Re: The Dark Knight Rises

it's already confirmed to be fake. don't get too excited. :lol

Hope so. If it's real then I hope Nolan is a better juggler than the directors before him that tried 3 or 4 baddies.

With the presence of both Talia and Selina it's guaranteed to have love story plot thread. :(

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Black Mask makes most sense, I've been calling that villain in the Batman threads on this forum for a long time now, even right after TDK. It follows Nolan's line. Talia is a bit of a wild card really and all of these villains makes me worried. I'm interested to see how Black Mask is made more "real" per Nolan's design...

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Levitt as Alberto Falcone makes a LOT more sense than Levitt as Black Mask IMO - given that we already have Bane and potentially Catwoman

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

From the source article:

[Update: This may be fake. In my rush to report Batman news that was forwarded to me, I didn't think to check the e-mail address it originated from: "[email protected]". Hit the jump for my sloppy journalism! Update 2: Definitely fake: The folks on the Nolan Fans message boards debunked the story.

That's kinda funny. If the e-mail address is the only criteria this guy uses to check his sources, I'll spoof some mail headers and send him a message from a more legitimate looking address...

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

There's something deep down in my soul that's telling me who jgl is gonna play but I dont wanna jinx it..so I won't say anything.

It's weird that nolan is being really hush about not saying catwoman will be in the film. just "selina kyle." would he really not use the opportunity to put catwoman in it?

man, I have no idea what this movie will be like.

I just hope that they continue to have virals. I wouldn't mind joker still being behind all that ____ personally. but thats just me.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I thought it was funny Nolan basically said the same thing about working with both of them. I won't lie, I was excited at the thought of Talia and Black Mask being in it, but I think it is better if they aren't. We've seen what happens when you put too much in one movie.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I was pretty psyched too. I don't think three villains (and one non-villain, i.e. Catwoman) is too much. I think it would have been great. So now my brain is inventing all kinds of awesome things to do to people who start bull____ internet rumors. Just gotta catch me one...

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I still think Black Mask would be the perfect choice for the Mob villian in this film. He would represent how the mob has changed in reaction to Batman. If they go with Falcone Jr or anything else, it really is a huge missed opportunity by Nolan and crew. Especially since it would have been more logical to have Falcone Jr pop up in TDK to take over the Falcone crime family instead of Maroni. That just seems like a big continuity problem to have this son just pop out of the blue when there was a power claim in the last film. :dunno

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Right. After Maroni, you get a sense of the mob having reached a point where they don't have what it takes to deal with Batman. It seems like the next logical step for organized crime in Gotham would be to take on (or be taken over by) a leader who could.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Yeah I see what the point is regarding Black Mask and how he makes sense.

I agree with that.

But I could see how a Alberto Falcone would work extremely well too. It just depends where Nolan wants to take his story, which we really have no clue about at this point other than a very general idea that Batman has to redeem himself by the end of it.

i agree Alberto Falcone would be great in it but don't make him the holiday killer cause he never was so don't even try to cram it into the movie

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Don't forget there are two very prominent job openings in Gotham for DA's. Possibly young, aggressive DA's trying to chop off Batman's nuts.

:goodpost:

Every time there's a casting rumor people are anxious to place the actor into a major baddie role.

If TDK set one expectation for the next film it's that we should expect the Gotham PD and DA offices to feature prominently. There were a lot of important public officials woven into the plot line of Dark Knight to great effect. Gotham felt like a fully realized city.

But now that I'm thinking about it, one effective way for Talia to attack Gotham (or Batman) would be to assume a persona and work within City Hall... Hmmmm...

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Even if these two are cast in a villain role...think about all the villains you have in TDK from batman's perspective... you have three "rogue" villains; joker, twoface and scarecrow. then you have Sal, Chechen, and gambol. then even ramirez and that bald fellow wuertz.

In BB batman was going after crooked cops and the mob, didn't really have to spend much time on scarcrow of zsasz... but ended up going after Ras ultimately. In TDK he was going to take down the mob, then turned to the joker, then to twoface.

There was a lot of ____ going on in the last two movies, where as I don't think that having "too many" villains is a bad thing for nolan and crew. The biggest problem with the previous batman movies is you spend way too much time focusing on villains. Nolan has only focused on the origin of one villain...harvey dent, as he is basically a metaphor for a changing gotham city.

I'm sure they will make a very coherent movie even with a ton of characters.
