Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Has Nolan said anywhere that she will be Catwoman and not just Selina?

Ive yet to read it.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

People also said Joel Schumacher wouldn't be able to direct a good follow up to burtons films. Oh wait.........

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

As long as we're banning words willy-nilly, can we ban the words "Heath" and "Ledger" from this thread?

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Spider-Man 3 was the product of someone forcing something onto someone that that person did not want to do. So...

No, it was the product of a studio's failed attempt to salvage a script filled with horribly written characters that no one cared about.

Raimi is treated like a victim with SM3, but alot of the things wrong with the film were his fault.

Plenty of blame to go around. Any time a studio announces a release date on a movie without a script that's a red flag.

If you write a script, and someone asks you to fit this other sub plot into the script, and you do it...you get Spider-Man 3.

I bet he made that movie out of spite. I hope he did. ____ Sony for that nonsense.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Possible Plot Summary?

Catwoman isn’t a villain but rather an ally of Batman. And who are they teaming up to take out? The League of Shadows. Headed by Talia Al’Ghul. With Bane, who is her muscle/possible love interest. And with Joseph Gordon-Levitt in tow. Is he playing Black Mask? My source didn’t know, but did know that Levitt is certainly an antagonist and involved with the League of Shadows.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

THIS is exactly what I (and granted, a large number of fans) have been thinking. The fact that it is so spot on to what I was thinking makes me doubt its authenticity a little bit (how self-deprecating is that...) but several trusted sites are claiming this comes from their most trusted sources and douchebbag Jett that runs BOF claims this is info he's known for weeks and is totally legit.

I must say, I LOVE this synopsis. It just feels HUGE. And EPIC. People are already clamoring about how many villains / characters there are. How this is a Spider-Man 3 redux.... B.S.

Nolan isn't putting these characters in for the sake of having a lot of charaters to attract a wider audience and or sell toys! He's come up with a great story, and these characters Fit. If you look at it where Talia is the main villain and Bane and JGL's character (Black Mask, Deadshot, etc) are her main thugs, and Catwoman is a Robin-esque ally to Batman... this thing is just going to be fantastic. Especially since we know the Batman / Catwoman dynamic gets complicated... and this approach is going to ensure that complication is much juicier than having her simply be a villain..... God I'm all for this!!

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Yeah, I read the synopsis and all the reactions on the hype. I'm not digging what I've read, true or not (as in the synopsis is a fake).

I guess I'm one of the few who just doesn't want to see the League of Shadows again. It just seems redundant. Their main function is to destroy Gotham City, that's been done before. If Talia is in it, she'll either seek to avenge her father's death or treat Batman like the second coming and want him to lead the League of Shadows. The focus would then shift off of Batman (involving Bruce, his parents, Alfred, and the Wayne Legacy), Gordon, and Gotham City to exposition between Bruce and Talia/League of Shadows, PLUS Catwoman, Bane and maybe Black Mask?

Wouldn't it ruin the ambiguity to the character of Ras in Begins? Ras' influence in Begins was well done and enough in my opinion. You have everything right there. From Bruce's training to the big reveal at the end with Ducard revealing himself to be Ras and ultimately losing. If you start grasping for more plot involving it it'll just seem too contrived. Make Batman a messiah or heir of the League of Shadows? I hate that, characters like Anakin Jesus, Neo Jesus and Superman Jesus. "Oh only this one man can save us". To see it done with Batman would be old hat, even though it hasn't been done.

If they go with the "Gotham must die" angle, it's been done.

I hope it's wrong. The only thing I want to see borrowed from Beings is having the focus be on Batman/Bruce Wayne and getting inside his head even more. Obsessions, psychology, integrity, changing symbols, etc.

From a villain stand point going from the League of Shadows to The Joker then back to the League of Shadows is ludicrous.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I kind of agree. I just think that going back to the League is unnecessary when Bats has such a huge rogues gallery to pick from. Sure, the Talia revenge angle sounds good--very Wrath of Kahn. But I would like to see Nolan take on something he hasn't done before, just because I've been so impressed with what he's already done and I'm confident he can keep pushing the envelope.

Newsflash. ANY Batman movie will feature the "Gotham must die" angle. All superhero movies feature the same premise: Colorful new badguy comes out of the woodworks, challenges the hero's ideals, and threatens to wipe out/take over the city/world unless he does something about it. Every film in the Burton/Shumacher canon had it, Begins and TDK had it, and I guarantee you TDKR will have it.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

No, I mean at the hands of the League of Shadows, hence the quote. Maybe I should have specified that better. Yeah, it's a given that a city or the world is always in danger (Joker poisoning the city, Penguin attacking the first born city, then deciding to destroy Gotham, Ras Al Ghul eradicating Gotham, The Joker making Gothamites choose etc.) but to have it be done again in a similar fashion to Begins is something I don't want to see.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

HEres why its not good news to me, it does sound like there will be some rehash but more importantly, an entire organisation knows Wayne is Batman. Why not simply expose him if you want to break him. It's sort of stupid since the police are already after him. Instead he'll inevitably defeat an army of ninjas again and some supervillains who all know who he is and could simply say to the police, "Check out Bruce Wayne hes Batman."

Oh and now were not going to see cool scenes in a Batcave under Wayne Manor because it would be too dangerous no? LOS already burned his house down once... Wayne is going to come off like Charlie Sheen if he has to pretend he burned it down drunk again.
