Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I was never clear on that: did they simply repaint the existing prototype that Wayne test drove or did Fox manufacturer a brand new Tumbler with updated specs!? I thought the latter since it would be REALLY suspicious if that prototype suddenly disappeared. Also there was no mention of a bike being included so I thought all that was added in the new build.

I still think ride is rocking the ____.

I don't see them moving away from the armored tumbler. I am hoping for some modifications though. When the bike came out of the last tumbler that was a pretty cool scene.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I've always hated the Tumbler. The only thing good to come out of it was the Batpod (literally). The Batpod is one of my favorite live action vehicles from the films.

I hope the next one is closer to a Lamborghini or something. Make it sleeker. I know that it was the concept with the Tumbler, but it just looked like a small mass of ____. A beetle with all these hulking tumors.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Some major Batman Forever love going on there Difabio! haha

I agree and disagree about the Tumbler, I have a love/hate relationship with it. Would love to see a sleeker vehicle this time.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I was thinking about it. You can't really go back from the tumbler...like doing a james bond car from a tank wouldnt really work.

It might be cool if they did like a new and improved tumbler that has like a more stealthy mode and a bunch of other mods or something.

I was also thinking about how nolan always actually builds these bad ass machines that actually run. the batpod being an excellent example.

As much as I wasn't into them having like a "bat-plane" like people have started rumors about a while ago...it would be so incredible if nolan and co actually designed and built a batman aircraft to use.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I'm glad they've stayed away from the planes and boats. For this series it would strain creditability.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I think they will use a modifed Tumbler. The vehicle served every purpose Batman needed, I don't see him changing it much.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

So did Batman take few months out of his crime fighting to build this or did he pay off some contractors to keep it hush hush?

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

He made Alfred build it. It's still not good enough to earn a raise. The butler's union isn't very strong.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Riiiiight, but I do think Alfred watchs some porn on that 120 inch screen.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Really the tumbler is the only thing that makes any sense.

Why in the world would he consider a regular car that can only out maneuver??

For starters the majority of the rear of the tumbler houses a large jet engine that he can fire to jump from rooftop to rooftop or more importantly, that he needs to jump the gap over the waterfall and to get back into the batcave, remember?

Then of course the fact that it can drive on rooftops, the fact that it can drive through several inches of solid concrete which the police couldn't follow through in there very strong designed for car chase cars. The fact that it already is set up to house a weapon and self defense system and has an backup ejector system. It can literally run over other cars, show me a BMW or Mercedes driving right from the road over the top of another car with its tires. It cannot be done. Not to mention the construction of the Tumbler likely took actual automotive engineers working for Wayne months to years to actually come up with practically. Waynes a smart and capable guy but I doubt he knows how to incorporate a motor, jet engine, complex missle system, active camo computer and camera system into the armor plating, and drive train all into a massive tank.

Replacing the tumbler is incredibly impracticle.

I always got the impression they could take the prototypes, since everything down there has been all but forgotten by the company.

No idea about the Bat Pod implementation, though.

Makes the most sense, progression wise. My best guess is the suit will be gray and black...

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

The tumbler is a 2 person vehicle, yet there's only one ejection system. That suggests Bruce modified it.

At this point, practicality is BORING. You don't need to explain a Batmobile, just make one.

You could have a Batmobile that can do ALL of those things, or whatever the script requires and have it be more aesthetically appealing than the Tumbler.

The "face" of the Tumbler with the windshields and a maw of front wheels just never sat right with me. That, along with the panels and boxy shape of the car.

I will admit, while I hated the initial pics of it in 2004 and 2005, it did grow on me it in action when I saw the film. When I mean action, I mean the story of it (as a bridging vehicle), and the Tumbler sequences. In motion it's great and I liked the concept of it being a Wayne Enterprises vehicle, but that design is just awful looking to me. Like many others, I was happy to see it get destroyed in TDK by the Joker. The best part of the Tumbler, for me, is when it blows up and has the Batpod reveal (and it's last words, "good bye").

In fact, all of the Batmobiles from the films suck, except the '89 version. The Forever one looks like an insect or a cricket or something. It's really alien-like. The Batman and Robin version is about as gaudy as you can get. A neon multicolor roadster? No thanks.

I think the problem I have with the Forever, Robin and Tumbler is that they're over designed.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Hmmm, I would think now that Bats is on the run more than ever he would be looking at a vehicle with a lower profile. The Tumbler is hardly subtle.

Oh and,

Man, Guy Pierce missed the party invite(s). And he was in Nolan's best movie. The heck?

Guy Pearce turned down an offer to audition for Bruce Wayne in BB.
