Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Great job, Devil. :lol

If Catwoman's suit is full of reasoning and "practicality" I'm out.

I think it's possible for Nolan and Co. to go too far to the point where it's not even fun anymore. Basically the exact opposite of where Schumacher went.

Good thing for you this is the last movie in Nolan's Batman trilogy.

I think that "reasoning and practicality" can be more fun than a huge wrestler in a luchador mask called Bane, or purple spandex and high heels for Catwoman (as sexy as that is).

The chance of Catwoman's suit being "practical" seems very high. But, the suit can still be "practical" and have some of that sex appeal the character's costumes are known for.

I hope that they don't forget that the main function for most of these characters is being the characters themselves not necessarily the environment they're in.

That's what was so great about the Joker, they didn't hold back and actually let it be creative and intriguing with the personality, outfit, disguises etc.
They haven't. Appearances have been "modified", but the essence of the characters are still there.

Remember when the first teaser image of Joker was released? People hated on that too. In the film he didn't have perma-white skin or green hair. He used make-up. Some people think that's a sin.

He had the white face, red lips, green hair, colorful costume and personality. Yet he had a "dirty" look to him. He was the Joker, but not just because of his appearance.

It's going to be the same here. Bane will be Bane, but his appearance has been modified. He's not going to wear a luchador mask. He's not going to be 7ft tall. He's not going to be a comically 300lb, roided out, behemoth.

He doesn't need to be in order to believably take on Batman.

His mask looks technological (possibly for venom use). He's "short", but he has muscle mass and fighting skills. I don't doubt that the essence of the character, his personality, his motives, will still be there.

He will be Bane.

Did you get Hardy's permission to photoshop? :nono

As a matter of fact I did.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I'm not too impressed with how Bane looks in that teaser but I wasn't impressed with Joker's initial teaser either and I ended up loving his design in the end. I'm gonna hold my criticism on Bane's design until I see a better pic of him.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

There's nothing remotely realistic about the Nolan Bat-films, IMO. Practicality in a world of master fighter genius vigilante billionaire dressing as bat, mass murdering nihilist dressed as clown, master ninja man using water vaporizer weapon to destroy city by driving populace insane, psychiatrist wearing potato bag over his head and using "fear toxin," man getting half of face and suit burned off running around town, doing crazy ____, etc.

Maybe I'm a complete nut job for thinking it, but I don't think that putting a luchadore mask on a guy instead of an S&M mask with skeleton hand over his mouth is gonna be the factor that nudges this franchise over the edge into impractical unbelievability.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

His world is realistic in the sense that it's plausible these things could happen or exist in our actual world vs. A god landing on our planet or a man that turns green and grows into a hulk or an invincible flying alien with a weakness to kryptonite and powered by the sun. The context, no matter how ridiculous for it to ever occur is real.

Well that would be one extreme. Obviously you can't make them 100% true to their comic counterparts. So I agree. Not only would it be ridiculous looking on screen it would be boring to have it be depicted that way.

A nice blend between the two sides was all I was saying.

So far I don't think the Nolan films have crossed that line yet. All I stated in my last post is that it could become a problem, especially with Bane here. It's gotten pretty close with Batman's suit in TDK and the Tumbler but it's not quite there.

Simplicity isn't always a bad thing and I don't think design should be sacrificed over alleged practicality or vice versa.

Maybe I'm alone. I guess I'm just sick of this modern costume trend where everything starts to look like some paded, military suit with all these unpractical mechanical tech parts with spray on gunmetal paint that give it the supposed "practical" look. Not every think has to look like a GI Joe accelerator suit.

Agreed. I think the thing I'm missing the most with this are those lenses that Bane has. I know this is the first pic, and yeah it could get better but I don't think there's anything wrong with pointing out what doesn't appeal to us with this reveal.

Eh I think the teaser of Bane was OK. Not great but OK. I think I can live with it. I think his size is fine too. I wasnt expecting a giant hulking mass of a man anyway, that would just be stupid.

It's "Hyperreality" . :D

Of coarse not. But there's probably a good reason why they decided to get creative with his mask...

Don't you want to see Tom Hardy's beautiful eyes?

What he possibly looks like from the front.

I am glad that his eyes are visible - it will allow Hardy's acting room to breathe in a sense, the eyes are probably the most expressive part of ones face

You know, maybe it wouldn't be so bad if they just covered up more of that bald head. That might be the problem, too much exposed at the top. Makes him look like stay puft Vader or a futuristic Hannibal Lecter ripoff.

Oh maaan a showdown in the batcave would be INSAAANE!!

Yeah. I hope Bane's motive in this film is to destroy Batman and to try and claim the throne as head of Gotham. A final showdown in Wayne Manor/Batcave would be great. It'd be the first live action fight in a Batman film.

Yeah I like how the eyes are exposed as well.Theres more room for dramatic expression. I wasnt a big fan of the luchadore mask anyway. I thought it looked silly

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I'm already excited. I was really hugely into the virals last time. this is a relief that they seemingly doing it again.

I also love that bane has pimples and ____ on his back. Looks pretty mean to me.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

The nature of Nolan's Batman movies are that Bane isn't going to be the Incredible Hulk in this one ... for the same reason Joker wasn't permawhite and Ras wasn't immortal. He may be roided up ... but he won't look like the schmuck from the Schumaker movie.

SnakeDoc

Yeah, he wont be HULK size, but his natural size is too small IMO.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

My version ahaha :)

Looking at the mask in higher resolution, I'm gonna say that is NOT a skeleton hand.
