Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I have no doubt in my mind that in terms of box office Avengers will destory TDKR.

In terms of storytellling and plot, character development, acting, etc, it's a no brainer that TDKR will be the better movie in every conceivable way.

And gigantic godzilla ball sized kudos to everyone involved for not dumbing down and whoring out TDKR in every imaginable way in order to compete with the Avengers marketing campaign.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

You can hear it begin to fall - that's how I interpret it

:exactly: I think it was cut off just to mess with people but I lean 3/4 towards it being real.

Michael Cain also siad that Nolan intended for it to be real in a UK radio interview but who knows how accurate his input on it is.

Still, I loved the collective groan in the theater when the credits rolled.

All this TDKR vs. Avengers is :lol to me. Film - like all other forms of art are subjective.

I think the only absolutes that can be called are more on technical execution/ quality in filming... but acting for the most part, and story and "meaning" are all up to the viewer as to what is better.

I promise for nearly every film made - it will be on one's fav list and the next's worst list.

All that said, Avengers is obviously the far superior film.

or is it TDKR... Oh yeah - BOTH HAVE NOT BEEN RELEASED YET!

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I think the silence in the marketing campaign is definitely on purpose as well. You can feel the swell of needed information for TDKR. They are playing it smart.

:lecture I agree. It's not like WB forgot they need to promote the movie but why compete with the Avengers marketing onslaught when the films are not in competition. However I don't think that they will keep the less-is-more route come May-June. I think there will be whoring a'plenty of Batman when the Avengers smoke has cleared. They wants them greenbacks and I think they will push the crap out of this.

Agree they are gonna speed up. Some good evidence there if the trailer is suppose to be debuting on May 11 (with Dark Shadows) There's a reason they are giving a week of cushion room there.

As for the BO results, I truly think TDKR will beat Avengers. Maybe not by much, but it will. Especially looking at the BO results for the last couple of Marvel movies. They make money, but no where in the range of TDK money.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Kevin Feige and also WB have said they hope both their movies make a billion dollars worldwide.

Both said it helps the Superhero industry if both are mega hits, it doesn't benefit anyone for either to financially fail.

Feige even said he's psyched about seeing TDKR.

Just watched it again and you're wrong Mr. Optomist. :moon :lol

Though, honestly, I think the Total Recall knockoff ending is better suited to the film anyway. :huh

Non optimistic people saw the movie as a dream, optimistic people saw it as real life.

Either way, you can't argue that the ending was brilliant. I also loved the collective sigh at the end of the movie. Especially the second time, since I already knew what was going to happen. :lol
