Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Yep, that would be him... one film under his belt, two if you count Avengers.

:lecture:lecture:lecture :exactly: Because Serenity was never released in theatres and/or Avengers doesn't exist.

Yes, Serenity was the film I was talking about and it might as well have never been released because no one saw in theatres. As for his second film, no one has seen it... yet. So... he doesn't have "pictures" and he's not much a director... and the other guy you were taling about? Well, we all know what he's done.

It wasn't even ok, that's why I had major concerns with Avengers.

But word is that he just hit a home run.

I was being nice. Hopyfully he did hit a home run. It's pretty funny that you're the ONLY person who understood what I was talking about.

:rotfl

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Whedon's pictures aim..and attain... a higher standard?

And which "pictures" would that be? The guy has only directed one film, which was okay, but easily forgotten.

He has pictures now. And Serenity is better then whatever the ____ you like. And Whedon is cooler then your dog. ____ your cat too. :lol

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

If Avengers is excellent I promise not to throw Serenity into the garbage*

*lie

I'm actually serious on this, I really think The Avengers is going to destroy TDKR. But we'll see if WB can start the hype train again. It seems a bit late in the game though...doncha think?

As far as building hype back up, still not to late.

It's Batman.

Forget box office for a second, I think there's enough room for 2 great Superhero movies to successfully coexist this summer.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Oh yes indeed there is. I have no issues wit that.

I'm just feeling like The Avengers may win this one because of the kid factor. Walk into Target, and you'll see Avengers stuff everywhere. Not just toys, Hulk feet running around, Hulk hanging from the ceiling, Iron Man chillin in the isles, ect.

Batman won't have any of that. The film just isn't directed towards kids. So we'll see.

I aint knockin on TDKR.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I have no doubt in my mind that in terms of box office Avengers will destory TDKR.

In terms of storytellling and plot, character development, acting, etc, it's a no brainer that TDKR will be the better movie in every conceivable way.

And gigantic godzilla ball sized kudos to everyone involved for not dumbing down and whoring out TDKR in every imaginable way in order to compete with the Avengers marketing campaign.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Avengers pissing contests aside from what I've seen and what has leaked this is poised to be the "Return of the Jedi" of this series. I'm waiting to see what the "Ewok" will be that people lovingly give a pass to.

I guess "no one saw it in theatres" constitutes close to $40,000,000 worldwide? :huh

This is what happens when you fart around in the Avengers threads. Seeing the teaser, it's clear that Nolan cast Warwick Davis as Bane. :huh

I've already voiced my concern about the plot being so similar in so many ways and elements to Batman Begins but I expect Avengers to basically be the modern day version of Independance Day. A big ensemble cast fighting aliens in a demonstration of current CGI capabilities.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

The viral for this film is as dead as Heath Ledger, Nolan could not have been less enthusiastic about doing another, Anne looks anorexic and people hate her look regardless of how she plays her character. So far every plot element looks identical to BB.

Avengers is a toy commerical starring Scarlet's tits in imax 3d. The Whedon fanboys will buy an extra ticket so that their Hulk action figures can have their own seats I assure you.

Plus after TDKR its over for Batman and this group of actors and talent. And why? Because Nolans sad Heath died. TDKR feels like getting ready for a funeral, Avengers feels like a birthday party with plenty more to come. Its not surprising.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Regardless of boxoffice success this summer, I hope Prometheus makes a lasting impression and that's the film we'll be talking about 10 years from now, not Avengers or TDKR.

Sometimes the biggest boxoffice means nothing in terms of lasting.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I think theres a pretty good chance in 10 years, they will all be forgettable. Prometheus is looking less and less original to me everyday and more and more of Ridley remaking Alien with better technology.
