Re: The Dark Knight Rises
100% agreed on Avatar. Very important to the overall feel of the film. All others, nah.
Hehe interesting points. As of late i'm thinking it may not be a coincidence after all.
You know, the AMC theatre in Universal just didn't do it for me. They of course have an IMAX in town but I couldn't be bothered.
We watched it in IMAX at the mall and the next day we were on a plane to Orlando. What's the deal with your family, do you guys go every summer?
Sometimes it's cool, sometimes it's a waste and overdone. Pirates 4 never needed it, it did nothing to change the experience, I saw it in theaters both ways. Avatar was great, it really submerged you into the movie and took you into that world. That's when 3D works for me. Sadly, studios and filmmakers only picked up on the 3D gimmick as working without really understanding why it worked and have gone to the extent of making everything 3D. It worries me that TV makers are even supporting it, I would like to see it fade out like it did in the 80s. My worry is that overtime, all things could be projected in 3D, and it's neat and all, but I don't want to spend all my time wearing stupid glasses or whatever, most times it's a wasted technology.

Pure coincidence, but I find that the even numbered years are the best ones for movies of late, 2008, 2010, this year's shaping up real well. There's been some hits in the odd years, but overally, I find more movies over the whole year that I enjoy in the even years.
2008 was historic for me. Rambo, TDK, Incredible Hulk, X-Files. Those were the ones I saw in theaters.
Other movies that came out that year that I really like, Iron Man, Quantum of Solace, Transporter 3, 88 Minutes.

Damn straight man.
I'll be there for this too!
Just eager to get my midnight seats booked. Imagine they won't be around as long as the TDK ones were.
