Re: The Dark Knight Rises

One technical part of TDK that still bugs the crap out of me is Batman's crappy and fuzzy CGI jump off the Hong Kong high rise because they didn't allow the stunt to be completed with a real jump.

The final jump just looks horrible. :(

I hope none of that in TDKR.

That scene in TDK looks about as fake as the football field exploding in the Rises trailer.

I think much of his jump and initial descent (before opening the cape pack) is actually the stuntman jumping off a replica of the high rise on a studio set...and then it is grafted into a composite shot of the real building.

From the moment he spreads his "wings" and swoops right in front of the camera frame (just like Batman Returns!), yep that looks cgi, but honestly it's not distracting enough to take me out of the scene unless I slow it down. I was surprised at how well the second portion of the jump looked--the glide to the shorter Lau-building came out. Watching it, you know it can't be real, but I think it looks pretty good, and the sound of the wind billowing through the cape really helps to sell the illusion.

Isn't it convenient that Lau was hiding out in a high rise with such fragile window panes? The scene would've been more realistic if Batman slammed into the reinforced glass window and slid down the side of the building. :lol

Here's a fan made bane poster.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

@DM

yeah, I loved all that, just the initial jump composite bugs me.

His cape open is awesome, wind noise and all.

LOL at sliding down the window. :lol

Don't poke me, I don't know where that stick has been!

I don't even eat because of this hobby. I get my nutrients from those little silica gel packets that are packed in with the Hot Toys figures.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Silica gel packet poisoning. I had to get my stomach pumped.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Jye, did you think that the buildings looked CGI or that Bats looked CGI during the jump scene? Because it was done for real on a sound stage.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I don't know how much stunt men get paid but its not nearly enough. That dive was WOW.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Has anyone seen these? I like a few of them, mostly the Bane "Fire Rises" one, but they look pretty cool for the most part. Little on the pricey side, but for God's sakes, we spend at least $250 a pop on our figures, so it should fit right in here:lol :
