I don't think that Mattel toy is anything other than a crazy invention of Mattel's. If you took everything they made in the kids 4" line, then expect neon Batman outfits to be in the film :lol If it was the Movie Masters line it would be different. But the 4" line is just crazy crap made up to sell toys to kids.

It's not a matter of being a crazy variant though. It comes in a 5 pack with other figures and their film representations. And there's already a "Batman variant" in the pack with the unmasked Bruce. It still doesn't explain the variant of THAT specific figure (with the single forearm fins like Azrael) which was posted a few pages back. So while this may very well just be a stupid rumor, there's definitely just cause in suspecting some truth in the claim. Add to that JGL's role largely being kept on the DL and downplayed, despite them showing him in most of the marketing, and suspicions should be at an all time high.

Could add more to the scene of JGL with the kid, do you think he's coming back, if he indeed becomes the new Batman.

I would hope so. It would leave a link to the Nolan films without compromising their integrity and they could just as easily roll with some Batman Beyond inspiration if needed and have Bale in a supporting role if he was willing. It'd also keep him in the running for a live-action adaption of The Dark Knight Returns which he's already expressed interest in.

That said, no. They'll probably do a clean break and (further proving they don't know the comics) misinterpret the "dark and brooding" aspect of the character and cast some effeminate EMO dude as the new Batman to play to the twilight crowd in an attempt to compete with Marvel Studios by netting the audience that doesn't enjoy comic movies.

Who is the "they" you're referring to? Reading this, it seems like you mean one group, but it should really be two. I think Nolan and Goyer are clear that this is the "end" of this incarnation of Batman, so "they" are the ones initiating the clean break...are you also referring to them as the "they" that that don't know the comics and would misinterpret the character by casting an EMO/Twilight type actor?

I think your second "they" refers to the writers/director/casting director of the next Batman franchise, or do you mean the WB in general (as in studio execs making the casting decisions)?

I agree. I saw the set at Target today.

There was a description on the back for that figure that sounded nothing like the rumored spoiler. Said something about it being a special stealth batsuit for Batman to use when pursing Bane in the dark, or something. Nothing about JGL, or Blake, or Nightwing, or Azrael, or anything of the sort. Just a silly Mattel justification for a different batsuit.

Much ado about nothing.

Pretty much what i believed all along in regards to the figure. JGL is just a cop that will get killed by Bane in order to make him seem like a better villain/bigger threat then the Joker imo.

Just can't stay away can you I don't blame you ( catwomen voice)
