Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I love the fantastical sides of Batman, but I have really enjoyed Nolan's take on keeping everything more realistic as well. To me, it's like Bond. Moore was much more silly and then you have Craig who is all seriousness and all the others in between.

I never had a silly feeling until...

Live And Let Die (1973)
The Man With The Golden Gun (1974)
The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)
Moonraker (1979)

For Your Eyes Only (1981)
Octopussy (1983)
A View To A Kill (1985)

I can't take to Craig at all. It doesn't even feel 007. It just feels like some generic blow it up too many explosions typical all action hollywood film.

Rumor: The Dark Knight Rises Script Leaks

A while ago a "leaked" script for TDKR popped up online but was quickly debunked as a fake. Well here we go again. Only this time scriptflags have details of a 165 page draft dated 2010. They say that if it is a fake it's the best fake they have ever come across, and they would see a lot! Anyway, here are the details..

Deadshot is featured being broken out of prison by The Society, headed by The Black Mask.

In Gotham, Batman has become a "myth". Crime is down so he keeps a low profile. He has a new aerial vehicle called The Wraith, a military prototype with a 40 foot wingspan.

Wayne Manor has been rebuilt, with a new Batcave.

Deadshot meets with Black Mask(who wears an "ebony skull"). He is also an associate of Roland Dagget, CEO of Dagget Industries.

Apparently Nolan has merged the characters of Hugo Strange and Edward Na-s-hton. Na-s-hton, like Strange in the comics, figures out Batman's identity and toys with him. Despite Na-s-hton's appearance, no mention is made of The Riddler. He would appear to be a completely different character.

Jim Gordon is said to play out his role almost identically as he does in Prey, hunting Batman with the aid of a Detective Adams.

Talia Al Ghul makes a brief appearance, but no mention is made of a primary female villain, or indeed of the secondary female character Nolan is said to be currently casting. This suggests that if this is on the level, its a very early draft.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I'd take it with a whole cup of salt. :)

I agree in the sense that I feel like they have lost some of the features that make Bond, Bond. But I think these movies has less explosions than some of the previous Bond movies. And I think Casino Royale is easily one of the best Bond movie.

Back on topic, I'm throwing down the bull____ flag on all of these leaked scripts.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I would love to see Joker return... DiCaprio would be a hell of a Joker. He has the same babyface image as Heath had and the same quality of acting. Pretty sure he could do the job.
Do we have any details yet such as casts, release date etc?

I would love to see Joker return as well, but not DiCaprio.

I think Joseph Gordon Levitt would make a good one because he is close to Nolan due to Inception and such, and he resembles Heath, and will even more so with make up on.

But alas, it ain't going to happen unless they get a new director.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

In any case hasn't DiCaprio expressed disinterest in doing superhero films?

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Heard it's shooting in Detroit, and not Chicago.

Good. I watched TDK today (what a great ____ing movie) and Gotham was all wrong. Easily the most poorly respresented character in the film. Even Gyllenhal did a better job.

That was one thing weird about Gotham in BB and TDK, they felt like different cities...to me at least.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

For one thing, TDK seemed to happen mostly during the day. I don't associate daytime Gotham with Batman.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

It doesn't help that the film featured Hong Kong in a number of scenes. makes differentiating TDK's Gotham from a non-fictional city difficult because of how familiar it was.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I think Chicago is perfect for Gotham - the difference between Begins and TDK was as you say, BB was mostly night shots and plenty of shots of the narrows, TDK was a lot of day shots and no narrows. That made all the difference.
