hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
The bottom will fall out of this niche just as the sports card and comic book industries.

Make sure you keep the pieces youd like if they werent worth jack ... :monkey1

For as large of a collection as I have, very few of my items are really worth much.

People who come over see it and think if I sold my stuff I could retire or something, I just laugh and tell them I would only make a fraction of what I paid for it :lol

Good think I collect for enjoyment of my items and not the value.

True that, I just had a round of sales on eBay end. Did okay, but my Sith Anakin (the SDCC version) sold NMIB for $27 :google Not a good return on investment, not to mention the hard fought battle to secure him :lol

Yeah, apparently the SW 1/6 stuff pretty much has zero value :lol

I see them waste away in the FS section or sell for less than half retail, kinda sad really.

Great minds think alike. If you are an investor to me star wars is dead and has been dead for a LONG TIME. I am glad I do not collect them, and the only reason I would is becuase I love the films. Since I am not in that boat that excludes me from the star wars peeps. But honestly, how many times can you make the same item in 100 different scenes? If you are a collector of SW you would have a case of brokeitis by now for sure, trying to keep up with all the items they put out every month. To me SW is just not worth the money and doesn't toot my horn like some other lines such as the DEAD (love it for me, not for the value) and Monsters (love the SSE Mummy) peices by SS. :drool

I'm more into items that I love and even if they are not worth anything I don't care becuase I love them. At the same time though, I am into hard to find items by SS. It just gives me a rush in those last seconds of an eBay auction to know if I'm gonna win or not and be part of the lucky few to own a timeless keepsake.:chew

People who buy toys for investment purposes may very well retire broke ... but with a bunch of cool stuff.

If you have to go to ebay to cash it in ... it isn't an investment vehicle.

Collectible market is fickle, what pricing guides say and what you can actually get for an item is another thing. I don't look at them as any sort of investment, I just buy them for my enjoyment. The market is so flooded with items from different companies that to pinpoint which will appreciate is insane. Golden and Silver age comic books were it. GI Joes, possibly, but I don't know of any in demand statue.
