I'm against rehashes when the originals are sold as limited edition items. If they were billed as 'open editions' or from a mass produced company, fine. When part of the appeal is the small number and exclusivity as art pieces then, yes, new or improved versions of the same thing are something I'm against. Could Rainman sell twice or three times as many figures as he makes of each edition? I'm sure he could but I like that he does not and keeps the numbers relatively low.
There are many figures I wish I had the chance to get (INAE's Tyler Durden, Kojun's Jack Sparrow) and couldn't whether that was because of geography (those South Korean customizers are amazing), or lack of funds, or not knowing at the time, but still I don't think they should make more just for me.
You may not see it as such, but the Bounty Hunter Blondie costume is bad ass! and I welcome Rainman making it. And he doesn't use a Spencer rifle. In GBU he uses both an 1874 Sharps and a modified 1866 Remington "Yellowboy" to look like an 1860 Henry.
I fail to see how one Minimate figure = Many posters, figures and an Iconic appeal. I also fail to see how leasing another run of the Man with no Name with different accessories will wrong the buyers of the original run. Okay lets not make the next run better. Lets give him screen accurate accessories to GBU. He never wore the pistol grip in GBU so lets take that away from the next release giving the lucky ones who own the original something of value or in your case it still wont take anything away from the limited run. We also never see the saddle bag in GBU so thats another thing out of the picture. Instead we'll include the rifle he used in the final scene
or as you mentioned modified 1866 Remington "Yellowboy".
Well if you feel it's the weakest one... then there is room for improvements! Also, GatackFC, it has nothing to do with not wanting you or anyone else to have a certain figure, it's about if something is sold as "limited to 20 or whatever" worldwide then making more in a few months of the same thing makes that meaningless.
I've luckily been able to get each of the Gunmen so far and, for what it's worth, I think the Blondie is the weakest of the three. Col. Mortimer is still my favorite. The black duster, suit, rifle and pipe all look killer on my shelf. A Bounty Hunter Blondie seems like good way all around for people to get a Blondie in their collections while still allowing for Rainman to make something new and different.
What we shouldn't forget is that we're all fans of the films here.
So if he releases the first costume again it doesn't take anything away from your limited run. It's still a limited run and you were lucky enough to get the original version. It's not like the guy doesn't offer clothing/accessories sets. You along with the others who feel it's a weak release can pick those up and put together a better figure!
In the end the Bounty Hunter Blondie just seems to be a release catered to the ones who already have the original Blondie. You just backed up my theory with your statement about owning all of the gunmen. It's not even a necessity to the collection.
