In hand guys does he have a shiny beard?

Yes, his beard is a little shiny. He looks better in person then he does in pictures, but the paint apps could be better. His hair mold is kind of puffy, it would look better if it was tighter to the head. Be careful with the quiver strap, it's very delicate. His hands are also a little tough to work with. Over all he looks very good.

I don't have him in hand yet, but from the pictures it looks like the sculpt was carried through (which I thought resembled Faramir rather well, especially from side angles), but it seems that the paint unfortunately is obscuring the sculpt since it is a bit too dark and shiny. I think it will be an easy fix though to paint him up like the prototype.

Overall he looks great though - can't wait to get him.

You know what it reminds me of, the terrible paint apps that killed the GG Qui-Gon Jin bust. I hope this isn't the norm or that the flash in these pics is what's causing the effect, but it doesn't sound like it.

I have mine in hand and will attempt photos tomorrow. I think his eyes aren't photographing well because Sideshow's paint apps are trying to move in a more literal direction for eyes. The irises aren't lined in black, but in a slightly darker shade of the iris color. With Faramir, that's a slightly darker shade of light blue. At least it isn't red. This isn't an issue for me since I'll repaint anyway. I do think it's a good likeness of the actor.

My Faramir has wandering eye syndrome, which is a surprise, and is pretty shiny. However, those of you waiting should remember that we've learned (from some chat or other) that there are six production facilities turning out these figures in China and so there can be variations in the paint.

Sorry! We only have one computer and my sister is in the middle of finals, but I've had a few hours to glory in my Faramir. I will now proceed to review him, step by step. Be ready for some intense posts!

The Box

The new Two Towers design is GORGEOUS!!! The velcro is much stronger and is powerfully attached to the box, eliminating the past problems for good. The images and design are lush and iconic, and the greens are just beautiful. It's easily the best of the packaging designs. Faramir comes right out, and everything comes in and out without any problems. An easy 4 stars.

The Accessories
Again, Faramir has surpassed the other figures in the accessory department. The long bow is AWESOME--and HUGE! It's strong and not nearly as flimsy as Legolas bow, and it keeps taut even with intense posing. The arrows are lovely and fit right into the quiver, which itself is just superb. The hard outer case is finely detailed and straps on very nicely, and the inner bag is just a delight to use. It's exceedingly accurate to the film.

The sword--oh that glorious, wonderful sword! This will never suffer the intense delicacy issues of its predecessors. Whereas Boromir's sword way little more than a lovely piece of paper, Faramir's is strong, durable, and lovely. The hilt is weathered to perfection, and the detail is so precise that it even features the tiny golden engraving of the two seabirds! It's unreal!

The hands are all FANTASTIC. Better than any others, and they all have lovely lifelike gestures. They all fit nicely and none of them are too tight or too loose. WOW!

The vambrances are just right, if not a bit rubbery. That's ok though, because it means you can pose him without any issues, and they come off well while staying on nicely. They look great, and the paint is very, very good.

The exclusive accessory, Boromir's horn, is a marvelous little touch. It's just like the complete one Boromir comes with, just broken. Duh.

All in all I give the accessories 4 stars!
