AAaacckk! Oh Josh... your fine photography notwithstanding, that figure looks awful! Granted, your intense close-up is probably making that paint app look worse than it is but...it's bad. The outfit looks well-detailed & crafted, but that head is just....a train-wreck with a paint bomb. Waxy...I was looking for the wick coming out of his head...

Yeah, my High Res doesn't help it out any but it just looks "eh". There really isn't much in the way of skin tone which sucks because the rest of the figure is awesome (including the sculpt). I really am bummed about this cause it's little bit of a let down for me.

The doily however, is top-notch :).

The doily is classic I agree. :rock

I hope MaulFan's take on this (in post #428) is correct...just a case of production/QC issues...not anything malevolent on Sideshow's part. It's just odd that this figure was delayed and one would hope that delay would've resulted in something stunning. I saw so-called "Production" figures of Plo & Leia/Boussh at ClV and they looked great. Plo turned out good, I sure hope Leia/Boussh does too...but if Faramir is any indication...well, let's just hope it's an abberation...

I don't believe at all SS is doing anything at all like a bait and switch. It's a figure that just turned out wrong it sucks that it happened but it does happen.

QC has been a problem for all US companies doing collectibles - we see it from Gentle Giant too.

Perhaps the Asian companies know a secret. Maybe that's why HT and Medicom don't try for fancy paint jobs, because they know the factories can't handle it.

Point well-taken Dave...it just seems that it's been hit-n-miss for both companies.

From GG's Qui-Gon bust and General Kenobi statue (bad) to Greivous & Jango (great), GG has suffered the same hit-n-miss that Sideshow has lately.

I'm just wondering (regarding Faramir) if there will be any that come from another factory run (different place) that has better paint apps than this initial one.

I really want one now, just to salvage it. I love the character, but damn this one turned out bad in the paint dept. Still, it's bound to happen from time to time.... What can you do?

I would be happy to volunteer mine for a re-paint. I love the figure...but it appears that mine, so far, has the worst paint app...by far.

It is actually hard to believe that my Faramir looks so good from a distance...but so sloppy under a microscope.:)

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe someone mentioned that Sideshow was using "6" different factories for their 12" figures?

Why can't they simply cut it back to just the ones that painted our Darth Maul, Obi-Wan, Legolas and Boromir headsculpts?

I'm comparing Obi-Wan, another bearded figure, with Faramir and it's impossible to believe that they both came from the same company.

I'm referring to simply the paint apps on the headsculpts, mind you.

(and on the boots...)

Putting the paint apps aside, the figure is really fantastic. That's the most fustrating part of all.

I totally agree. It's kind of mind boggling.

Funny how the color of his cloak has just sort of disappeared from everyones mind. :monkey3

Well the issue was Faramir's cloak, but the paints apps no longer looking like Faramir, this guys cloak is fine :)

Here are a few shots of the latest progress I'm making on my repaint. These and more can also be found in my customs thread.

Honestly, it's just as bad in hand as it is in that pic. Just got mine today, what a waste of a good opportunity for an awesome figure.

*ponders canceling*

that beard reminds me of the Obi-wan debacle of GG.

Well im probably more critical than the average SS fan, as you can tell by the mixed reviews, however it in no way is a biased opinion of mine.

I'd wait to see it for yourself before you cancel it and you'll see.

There are far more people with it in hand that say it's okay than those who don't. The close-up flash pics aren't at ALL representative of what the figure looks like.

Some are determined to find as much fault as possible and they aren't likely to be happy about anything.

I just got my figure today, and I really dig it - but he's still getting a repaint!

Faramir has quickly become my favorite figure in the line so far. I might give him a few upgrades too; I want him to be as close as possible to the prototype. I'll post a few pics later.

The colors are wrong, no doubt about it, but my figure does not look as rubbery as the one pictured above. I'm not saying the paint job is great nor on par with any other figures I have, but flash photography does it no justice.

I dont know Dave, when half of Faramir's front goatee is missing, i'd call that a fault.

Likewise some are determined to ignore any faults as much as possible. :monkey3

Hopefully my replacement comes and is better than the one I originally got...
