The paint apps have been so disappointing with this figure that I've simply put him aside for now and have lost interest in him. That's the first and only time that I've felt this way with a 1/6th figure. I'll probably start my repainting project over the weekend, though.

CF brought up an excellent point regarding his hair color. It's definitely quite light in color. The beard is just slightly darker in the film. But to be honest, that wasn't what hurt figure most. It was the sloppy application of the paint, specifically on the beard/moustache areas and the eyes (in my case) that made it simply look cheap. Once I've corrected those issues, this figure will definitely rock, as the outfit is outstanding. (boots definitely need to be repainted, though.)

Regarding the cloak, I'm very curious to see if this material will accept a green RIT dye bath. The RIT dye has trouble with most man-made fibers. If this is the case, then the alternative would be to use the existing cloak as a template for creating a new one in the correct color and material.

Things have slowed down considerably for this guy. Has no one else received their Faramir yet?

Well most of the chatter was towards the negatory end of the scale so I'm sure many people agreeing with that side of things have seen the redundancy and just opted not to get involved. I'll have my new one on Thursday and hope to share some positive news on a well applied paint job.

Really the hair and beard being a bit darker isn't that big of a deal 2 me. What makes me bummed about the figure is the shininess of the beard and skin. Otherwise, I'd really love this figure.

Exactly! Even the first boxed images in this thread showed the hair color difference, which I was fine with. It was the totally glossy and in some cases, poorly applied paint on the first wave of figures that was offsetting. I'll admit ROTS Obi-Wan's hair colors are a bit dark, but they're applied very well so I look past it, the gloss is a hard thing to get past, especially when so many figures of late have come from Sideshow with that nice, matte finish that adds to their realism.

Alright...it's Thursday and he's here!

First reaction....a big sigh of relief! After witnessing the parade of horror pics, I was expecting the worst but...he's not bad. Yes the hair's too dark (and one-toned) and the beard is shiny, but the app is ok compared to some here.

Gotta get to work but headed out back to get some new images up in this thread...

I'll get some better ones over the weekend when I can get some better poses and some new environments...

Hey MaulFan...you get yours today?

Nice work as usual JB. I got my second Faramir today, and haven't gotten him out of the box yet, but just looking at him in there, the quality of paint application is infinitely better than what I got on my first one, the eyes are straight and really well done, the beard looks quite nice, the shine seems lesser. Now, to find out what the artists that did the first batch were smoking/drinking when they applied the paint on wave one figures and get my hands on it :)

Nice shots JB--- I'm still waiting for my Exc. Faramir...
I was on the wait list and that converted about a week before they started to get shipped-- oh well, hopefully if I'm waiting now that must mean that it'll be one with the correct paint applications.

JB -- can you take a close up of the face for all of us?

The wide shots look great but a lot of the complaining happened when I posted a close up of the face. I think that's what we all need to see to verify that these new figures are indeed improving.

Beautiful shots JB!!! I'll probably get another one too just to have a factory made version to keep in storage; I'll be displaying my repainted one though.

Ed you need to get a good camera or borrow someone else's so we can get some good shots of Les' repaint.

I'll snap a few when I get home from work later this morning WG...just lookin at the one I got though...the eyes look good and the face isn't shiny (except for the beard). The beard itself is kinda spotty but I think it looks ok.

Thnaks for the compliments folks...more shots later...

Most of the complaining occurred when we received ours in hand and confirmed that yours was not an aberration... :monkey2
