Lucas digitally inserted Boba Fett in the ANH Special Edition and all he did was stand around and look into the camera.

One day when the separation anxiety gets too much for PJ, he might end up making Special Extended Editions.

Yes. GEORGE LUCAS did idiotic things to his trilogy. PJ has already gone on record that he's against tampering with past films and would never touch up the LOTR, not even to make Gollum look a little better. He did change Smaug from a four legged beast in the opening of the TE AUJ to a two legged creature in the EE but that was a different version of the film. He didn't go back and change the edit of the TE.

Of course that being said we have seen some great filmmakers go absolutely bat **** crazy in their later years so hopefully PJ doesn't go that route.

Touche. But Legolas shoe horned? No. He was the warrior prince of the jerk king who captured the dwarves. Why couldn't he be there? And if he is there why would he NOT make a snide comment to one of the dwarves? And if he does make a snide comment, why can't it be an amusing counterpoint to his final relationship with Gimli.

Vader building 3PO? I swear there is either mass obtuseness at play or outright trolling. It's like people literally want everything to be The Phantom Menace regardless of whether it's true or not.

What is trolling? Been here since 2008, just waiting for my chance to strike. :lol Ya got me!

I only meant the joke/gag was shoe horned, as well as both awkward and off putting, IMHO.

Not Legolas. I rather enjoyed him in these films. Tauriel, well, that's another story entirely.

I'm just trying to come up with an explanation for the mass hysteria causing totally nonsensically negative opinions about the Hobbit trilogy. :) You liked Legolas but not the joke about him insulting Gloin and his kin? Crazy talk! That was genuinely funny man. :duff

Without having seen Hobbus Tres (I'm seeing it next week), I do think that Peter Jackson is comparable to George Lucas and The Lord of the Rings is to the OT as the Hobbit is to the prequels. It's a fair comparison.

Then again, maybe Hobbit 3 will change my view on that, especially if it ends well, on the right note.

I'm gay. I love me some Legolas for... reasons. ;)

But I just don't like this new film. First two were utterly fantastic, minus the barrels and the spiders. Oh, and the She-Elf! :duff

I'm no LOTR snob (yes I am).

I'm just going to come out and say it, by the time we got to the armies moving from one place to another in mere seconds to the goats jumping from cliff to cliff to Legolas literally turning into Donkey Kong and Mario Bros, I knew that what I was witnessing were the most glorious video game cut scenes ever made.

If you hated the feel of the other 2, you better bring your barf bag to this one.

I know that sounds like I hated it.

But I didn't.

Just like the last 2, it was a fun thrilling ride.

This movie had a very ethereal feel and look to it, almost like those Rankin Bass cartoons come to life.

My gripes are few, the main one being how
Thorin was broken out of his spell.

Also, are those tremor worms in the book?
.

My wife cried big time at the you know what scene. :lol

There are much worse things out there being made than this trilogy, PT these are not.

Will be a must buy with the EE.

P.S. Terminator trailer made everyone laugh at just how bad it looks. :lol

I was hoping to see Tauriel naked, full frontal and butt shot, but no such luck.

I guess I'll have to wait for the EE for that.

LOL Hopefully she's a real ginger elf. But I bet it would only be another CGI

Took my mom to see it tonight. She's responsible for me getting into Middle-earth she and I both loved it. It's been a fund ride with these films. I think they feel the proper same and different than LOTR. It's gonna be a lot of fun watching all six films someday.
