No basically same distance as Erebor to Moria.

They are the two of the big wig elves of Middle-earth. Celeborn was the other.

You're close. It's Thranduil and he's not quite on their level.

CELEBORN! Thank you. I couldn't remember his name. Its been a few years since I've read LOTR. I bought the leatherback edition of The Hobbit last week at hastings. Still a great read.

I find the events going on in the rest of Middle-Earth during the Events of Lord of the Rings to be really interesting. Especially, the attacks on Lothloen and Mirkword, and the Lonely Mountain.

Remember Elrond was a decendant Elwë and Melian (who was Maia), so he has Maia, elf and human lineage which makes him pretty unique. And his brother Elros was the first king of Numenor, so he almost like Aragorns great uncle.

I'm starting to wonder if there's a good reason Bombur doesn't have any lines. We already have the dwarf he cant' really speak so there has to be a reason or a payoff coming.

To be fair he really doesn't say much in the book.

No problem. Celeborn kind of gets forgotten. :lol Reading the books is an every year deal for me. Yeah, I love The Hobbit. Not as much as LOTR but love it all the same.

I know. That's why I love reading the appendices and checking out that site I linked earlier. The world Tolkien created is a pretty amazing place.

Yeah, Elrond has a pretty cool backstory. Another reason for people to delve into the back stories.

almost?...he is a great(hundred times) uncle

Mirkwood is far north of Lothlorien.

As far as authority goes. I believe Elrond and Galadriel are held in higher regard because they are both Ring bearers. Thranduil is lower on the totem pole, but he is still a King nonetheless.

Much appreciated laddies, I will salute both of you today with my frothy ale. :duff

I'm one hour into AUJ EE, home alone (wife went out with her friend credit card :horror) and all i'm going to say is that the first hour so far is as good as anything from the LOTR.

Its amazing the effects from repeat viewings.

Hopefully the last 2 hours hold up.

My pleasure. :1-1:

The EE is better than the TE IMO not that I thought the TE was bad. The stuff added in Rivendell is pure gold.

I agree. Repeat viewings for movies I like let me appreciate more of what I like and ignore anything I don't.

The Hobbit weathered the Anchorman storm and was still the #1 movie for a second week in a row. Way to go DOS! :rock

DOS $31.4 million
Anchorman 2 $26.7 million

MIrkwood,Radagasts house and Dol Guldur is really just east of Lothlorien really...Elrond and Galadriel had the Lineage to show their authority...just look at the family trees they had in the Silmarillion...that is enough.. they were given those rings of power because of their lineage too, Elrond inherited it from Gil-Glad but was next in line

Just checked, holy crap wasn't even close.

PJ will be pleased that his hard work and dedication payed off.

Did AUJ have 2 consecutive weeks at the # 1 spot?

I always wondered why Elros wanted to change over to a man instead of being immortal...was it because of a chick he met?:slap

Omg, I am laughing my *** off when Gandalf gave Radagast some old toby to calm him down after his Necromancer story.

Radagast's reaction to the old toby is classic. :lol
