I'm quite confident that "There and back again" will be a highly emotional film.

People say Hobbit is lighter, but one thing that will surprise people who didn't read the book is...

More main characters die

I have confidence PJ will do justice to that part of the story. He did an awesome job with the ending of ROTK, especially Mount Doom.

I'm expecting TABA to be a pretty emotional movie for me. I won't spoil anything for those that haven't read the book.

I certainly hope so. I get that people say, "Jackson is staying true to the source material!" but the fact is, most people's experience with LOTR are the film series, not the books. The films made LOTR a household name. Everyone and their mom has seen them. Now, those same people went into the theatre to see The Hobbit and expected LOTR all over again, understandably so, and they left disappointed. In fact, my sister said the other day she was so underwhelmed by the first film that she won't be seeing the second film in the theatre. I think the majority of my family and friends feel similarly.

That's EXACTLY how I felt- I have little excitement for TDOS..but i will see it hoping it will get me back into this story...

I don't know why people felt underwhelmed by Unexpected Journey. I feel it has as much action as Fellowship of the Ring. Actually it follows a similar plot.
Rivendell,Passage over, then under Mountains, then Ambush at the end.

I know some were frustrated that it was a little slow at the beginning, but they introduce a lot of characters up front.

Agreed! Although I'll also be upset because it's (probably) the last Middle Earth related movie we'll be getting. :monkey2 :monkey2

I just really disagree. The Hobbit is, in my opinion, better left as a book than as a prequel series to LOTR...

From now on when I don't agree with someone's opinion, I'm gonna hit it with this... :lol

When he's dead soon(he's 88)we'll see if his kids or the next rights owner feels the same way

Yeah, we'll see. Hopefully they are more liberal in the rights to the books.

Of course, Silmarillion would be a really tough book to capture from what I can tell. You'd probably have to only pick a few stories from it to tell.

I'm betting they aren't turning down all the money that comes from the movies or movie book tie-ins though.
