It's coming. They showed it at the International Broadcasting Convention in Amsterdam last Sunday.

I'm hoping that I see a glimpse of Galadriel,Saruman,Gandalf, and Elrond at Dol Guldur in the next trailer

Hope it has more Smaug in it.

I don't mind the quick peek at Smaug they gave us in the teaser, but I'm hoping they keep the rest of him out of the trailers and just blow away the audience when we see him for the first time.

I know that goes against marketing in just about every way, but I can hope, can't I? I just really don't like trailers that show all the good stuff and then the movie just puts it in order.

Agreed. I don't even want to hear him talk until I see it in the theatres.

Also, anyone think this one will be better received?

I certainly hope so. I get that people say, "Jackson is staying true to the source material!" but the fact is, most people's experience with LOTR are the film series, not the books. The films made LOTR a household name. Everyone and their mom has seen them. Now, those same people went into the theatre to see The Hobbit and expected LOTR all over again, understandably so, and they left disappointed. In fact, my sister said the other day she was so underwhelmed by the first film that she won't be seeing the second film in the theatre. I think the majority of my family and friends feel similarly.

I think so but the first film made a billion dollars so it was pretty well received I'd say. It will be a bit more serious in tone and closer to LOTR in that regard. There will be a familiar face in Bloom as Legolas and of course we're gonna see Smaug. I do think people will be more aware this isn't LOTR the do over.

That's on the viewer not Jackson. Making the book fairly close to the source material is not a fault at all. It may be with people who are clueless and don't take the time to know this wasn't a redo but you won't find a fault with most fans of Middle-earth. If anything I've seen people who didn't feel it was close enough to the book and the changes made weren't for the better. Granted most of those tend to be more of your purists but I for one was glad it had the right amount of light heartedness that the book has as well as some seriousness that you get with LOTR. It really was the right blend for what The Hobbit should be and by the end it will blend as the book does with The Lord of the Rings books.

Also, LOTR was a household name well before the movies. The movies just made them cool to like.

That's the reason I enjoyed the Hobbit a lot. I commend Jackson for not trying to turn the Hobbit into LOTR Redo. However, the next two films will be more darker, like Josh said, Closer to LOTR films.
