In line an hour early because I knew the line would be bits and it is. I did get to hear The Hobbit trailer play before journey 2 while I'm waiting.

I enjoyed it. Felt like Battle Royale done by Disney.

It was entertaining and I did largely enjoy it. Seemed a little overlong, maybe a good 30 mins could have been trimmed imo.

Not a blu ray purchase for me but would give it a solid 7/10

6.5 for me

Shaky cam is freaking annoying and I don't really get why the story is so popular?

Very average movie for me but yes Jennifer Lawrence put in a solid performance

I liked it a lot actually. They took the time to develop the characters, and I actually did care about them at the end. It took it's time, and I liked that.

Everyone was pretty good. Especially Jennifer Lawrence. Man, she stole the ____ing show. Great actor, great character.

Shakey cam was awful. And I wish there was more violence. But it was still incredibly entertaining, and did give me a good time at the theater.

I had almost zero knowledge of the book, outside of 2 pages I read. :lol

But, what I don't get, is why the ____ were there so many kids, and families seeing this movie? There's NOTHING in this for kids. NOTHING. :lol The hell is wrong with everyone....

And i'm talking little kids, like 10 years old and under. Not that I object to bringing kids to violent flicks....but it just seemed really funny to me that all these families are seeing this sorta brutal, and pretty intense movie about kids who die horribly for very little logical reason. :lol

But it's still a good movie. 7.5/10. Would've been an 8 if not for the wrenched camera work at times. I wonder how they filmed those beginning scenes in that 8.5 earthquake. :lol

Uh, CP - it's an excellent movie (and books) for the 10 - 13 crowd. That's the time for them to start making the transition from Chipmunks to meaningful stories, and this is an ideal transition. Or you could just keep letting them watch crap that doesn't make them think, and you get 80% of the adults with lousy taste that think the Bachelor is high entertainment.

I think this is one of the best book adaptations I've seen - certainly better as an adaptation than any of the Potter books. Lawrence was excellent, and the right changes were made, as well as keeping the right information.

No, this isn't an overly violent movie - but it has the right amount for the audience. This is an excellent flick for kids in that tween age who need to start seeing films that are about more than simple plots. They can't jump from the Chipmunks to Black Swan in one step, and this is the sort of film they need more of - something intelligent and thoughtful that's still reachable.

The shakey cam is not done like POV films - it's done largely in the District, and done as a way to give an artistic impression of the place. It felt almost documentary like without trying to be a documentary, it gave a feel that I thought worked, once I gave it a chance. I didn't notice anything quite like it once they live District 12, even during the games.

I enjoyed the movie. I was just surprised that there were a lot of kids there. It's not even the on screen violence, it's the subject matter. It's really, really, really dark stuff.

I mean, I have no problem with anyone seeing it...I just found it a bit odd. For such a dark story. It was well done. And there is a nice core of light through the darkness and all that. But still.

Damn dude I'm surprised u liked it celtic. The part where Cato snaps that kids neck got alotta gasp from the audience.parents didn't expect that.

Film was really great IMO. They did such an awesome job of staying really true to the books which I liked. Everyone did a great job with their acting and it looked like I imagined (I did get a 1984 vibe from how things are for these people). The violence is exactly like it is in the books again which again was on the mark. The camera work didn't bother me a bit so I don't agree with that at all.

I can understand people not reading the books not getting things or people who need just mindless movies to not enjoy it.

I'm already ready to see part 2. Which I heard starts filming in September.

Overall 4.5/5

Well, I haven't read the books (yet) and I got the movie just fine. I thought it was exceptionally well done, it made me want to run out and read the books (will have to wait a month, my plate is already full, but will make for great summer reading, I'm sure). Because I haven't read the books, I'm obviously not mad over any details that may have been omitted, but it's hard to imagine how this movie could have been done better in the time frame of a film. This movie ran long, but it sure didn't feel that way, kept me engrossed in the story the whole time - I will recommend it to family and friends!

I heard the violence in this is nothing like the books. It's far more grisly, and gory.

And the camera work was terrible at certain times. I don't care what anyone says. It did work for the first part of the games. That was quite effective. But everything else? Nah. Please use a dolly.

I am with CP on this. I did think the same thing when I watched it last night. Noway after watching it would I take say my daughter of 12 to see this! I think the subject matter itself is enough to warrant a higher certificate but that's just me.

It was a good film and I did enjoy it and Lawrence was superb.

I agree about the shakey cam. I thought after watching the first five minutes I was not going to like it but thankfully it calmed down a little.

To be fair the certificate is already letting you know it's not suitable for your daughter's age, and you can't go R because that would excluded young teens who this is mainly aimed at, and are flocking to see it. In the UK it got a 12a which the studio fought for by cutting out the blood splatter, personally I was fine with this, but even after the cuts I think nobody under 13 should watch this film. A little girl started crying when you know what happened, actually my wife got a bit upset too.

Same here, bro! :hi5:

The 2.5 hours flew and I wanted more!

I'm going to go see this one again after the crowds die down, I really enjoyed everything about this movie.

My 10 yr old daughter is going to this sunday no matter what. I know nothing about this movie. All i know is my kid has read all the books and is super excited to go. My woman and her already have tickets, and if i say no at this point i'm the jerk. I kept asking them if it was ok for kids and she said yes. I know it's pg-13 and i'm ok with that.

Violence don't really bother and my girl can handle it. It's sex stuff the bothers me and i doubt there's much in here.

I am in the UK.

I don't actually have a 12 year old daughter I was just surmising.

This is definately not for minors imo. It is not about the fact it doesn't have blood splatter, that is irrelevant. It is the deeply disturbing subject matter that should not be viewed by anybody under 15 I guess.

Let's not forget there were a few grissly moments in this albeit bloodless.

Yeah, this was a quick 2.5 hours for sure.

It's one I will consider seeing again for sure. Like you said everything about it was excellent. It was like lotr for me in that it stayed rally faithful to the book with changes for the theater that worked. A great time was had for sure.
