Over on the production photos thread there's a lot of negativity over this piece but I have to say that I love it!

Yes, the paint apps ain't the same as the one off prototype but they aren't crap by any stretch of the imagination.

I love the look of this figure, am enboldened by the fact that all of these figures have so far look even more awesome in person and cannot wait to get him posed on my shelf.

If I'm labelled a "SSC Cheerleader" so be it. I just think that for the price point these figures are light years ahead of anything we've seen before. If you are not happy then don't buy it. Simple as that.

I'm happy, I've bought it and I'm gonna have to wait another 10 weeks to see it in person as I'm in the EU.

So come on, I can't be the only one. Show Obi some love...

Well, call me SSC Cheerleader too then, because I think the figure looks great. :chew I'm sure there's plenty of waitlisters that are dying to get this figure who do not worry too much about how dark or what not the figure is. :emperor I can't wait for mine :D

GO................. SIDESHOW!!!

I'll wait till in hand until speaking - but for the record IMHO EVERY Star Wars SS figure has looked better once in hand than any photo I've seen.

YES SIR! I totally agree. It looks good in pictures, not as good as the old proto pics, BUT I can't really say without getting it in hand. JUDGMENT DAY COMES FOR YOU KENOB!

Well, I'm cheer captain so I welcome you all to the squad. :lol

As I've said already the more I look at the high res pics the more the paint job doesn't appear bad IMO. I also believe more of the detail will come out once you can see it with your own two eyes.

I won't cheer or jeer until I have him in hand. I wish the rest of you would do the same.

It's reasons like this that mediocrity have become commonplace in the business world.
Why strive to be excellent when they'll take whatever we give them. Why? Because we're better than anything else on the market! Sounds a little like Sideshow needs some competition, because it looks like they are becoming what EA games is to football now.

If you like something seeing pics isn't gonna change that. Unless you get a broken one I guess. Now, I agree for those not liking it because it IMO is easier to go the other way.

I'm very happy with it too! I'm 28 and I've collected Star Wars figures since before I can remember. From Kenner to Hasbro to Galoob to SS and Medicom and I can honestly say that this line (as well as RAH) are the best Star Wars Figures ever IMO. I'm not saying they couldn't do better in some aspects, but overall I'm very pleased with them.

Hmm...a thought just occurred to me about the parity of opinions regarding SSC. I look at them as action figures and collectible toys, but the thing with sixth scale figures is that it's really the crossroad between figure and statue. I wonder if the negative vibes which surround these figures for some guys come from them wanting statue quality collectibles instead of toys. Just a thought I figured I'd share.

I'm normally on your side with this stuff but this seems like a double standard to me. Basically it sounds like your saying it's ok to praise it from the pics, but it's not ok to say bad things from the pics.

No, that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that most folks opinion isn't gonna change if they liked it in the pics. It does happen of course but not that often from what I've seen. However, I've seen more than a few times someone not liking a piece in the pics but loving it once it arrived. So when folks really get down on it. I think man just hold off being so down till you see it in person.

Does that make sense?

I quite like him.Not as good as the the older pics, but still really nice. When some one gets him I can then make up my final descision..

Actually Josh, based on the pics, I'm severely disappointed. Considering this is the figure that got me hooked on this line, the differences are very noticeable IN THE PICS. But unlike almost everyone else here, I don't deal out my judgement based on pics, but the final figure that comes to me. Not everyone here is a SS fanboy, and cheers everything they put out whether it's good or not. That being said, this Obi is by far the best 12" representation we've seen so far. But that doesn't mean we should allow SS to have such drastic differences in paint apps between the proto and production pieces.

While this figure looks great, someone needs to be held accountable if what we receive is anything like the new pics that SS has posted.

And I think its right on in a lot of cases. Certainly mine. The sculpts and paint apps of the protos are virtually on par with PF which impressed me immensely, then after Anakin and Sith Anakin I realized that if you want PF quality, you really need to purchase a PF figure.

The 1/6 figures are great looking poseable dolls however and I look forward to having Obi-Wan to pose next to Sith Anakin while I begin my premium collection of 1/4 scale statues.

I could be wrong but If I'm not mistaken you can return your product for a full refund for any reason including you simply don't like it. I think that's how they hold themselves accountable. While I agree that the final product shouldn't differ drastically from the proto I don't believe it's reasonable to say it shouldn't differ at all (i know you didn't say that but others have). Of all the lines I collect IMO SSC does is one of the best at getting the actual products to match the protos, even if Obi is an exception.

That being said, remember we all went through this when the Luke prod pics showed up too, and that for the most part all blew over once people got the actual product in hand. That, along with every person whose seen it in person saying it looks better than the new pics we've seen makes me hopeful that I'll be as happy with this as I have been with Luke and Mace.
