Saw Suicide Squad...

Pzltc1L.gif

Felt very rushed right from the very beginning. Got tired of hearing David Ayer's iPod the whole film. Good songs, but incredibly forced. Diablo was the only one I liked on the squad since he had the most depth of all of them. I thought Enchantress was cool but the final battle was whatever with that poorly constructed slo mo scene. I'd buy a HT of her.

Smith was Smith as mentioned by Zod. Harley was eh. Didn't hate her, didn't like her. Her accent was inconsistent and was trying to emulate Arleen Sorkin which is a plus I guess. Leto... well they need to stop trying to fix Joker when he was never broken. I'd really like to know why they keep trying to make him different than what were all accustomed to for decades now. Sure there's been one off deviations, but I'm talking about the core Joker akin to Hamill's. I think he could of been great if they didn't portray it this way. Katana could of been cool, but was stuck being a third tier background character. Croc was okay, and I didn't realize it was Adebisi from Oz :lol

I watched it with my fiance since she was so excited to see it, but shes hates herself that she didn't like it.

But still liked it right? :D

:lol :lol

I watched The Killing Joke last night. It was ok. Two things bugged me about the added Batgirl story in the beginning: She and Batman having sex, and the fact that her personality was stereotypical soap opera garbage. All of a sudden Barbara is a lovesick little girl? The phone conversation between her and Batman afterward was cringeworthy. Also, I thought it was a poor decision to give her a villain that only wants to be her villain because he thinks she's hot.

The actual Killing Joke story was done pretty well. I would have liked for the art to be a little closer to the book but it wasn't such a big deal that it ruined the viewing experience. I guess I would give it 6 "Do you like me? Check Yes or No" notes out of 10.

I just can't sanction the Batgirl stuff. They should have padded out the pacing of the main story (I thought the Joker flashbacks weren't nearly as engrossing as say, Mask of the Phantasm) and just cut the prologue altogether. Brian Mozzarella really screwed up on this one.

The added on Batgirl story was the weakest story I've seen them do in quite awhile--possibly the weakest. It felt like the live action DC film people decided to have a go at making a cartoon. I would have definitely preferred them to fill out the Killing Joke story than tack on a story showing a character not being the character she's supposed to be. If it's only an hour or hour and fifteen minutes then so be it. I agree that Joker's flashbacks weren't as captivating as Mask of the Phantasm--though there's no way in the world this was ever going to match up to that film anyway.

Absolutely. It certainly felt off considering most of the modern DC animation adaptations were pretty spot on (I didn't liked the Year One movie, but at least it wasn't insulting). I also read few weeks back that Brian Mozzarella picked a fight with a fan at Comic Con when asked about the dumb Batgirl stuff. He's the one who padded the story.

Regardless though, the ending with the Batman and Joker ending was superb and a dream come true seeing it finally in animated form. Until they added that other scene. Good lord. :slap

I was ok with the ending until that part. WTF were they thinking?

Brian Mozzarella :lol needs to get over himself if he thinks the Batgirl story was worth defending.

Here's a compelling argument on why Mask of the Phantasm is still the best Batman movie ever made:

Do Batman and Batgirl do it in full costume? Bat on bat? Big batty style?

It didn't show all of it but when they panned away Barbara had her mask and top off (with her bra on) and Batman was still fully in costume. :lol It was pretty romantic because she initiated it and Batman pretty much just lay there being Batman. :yuck

I've felt like your fiancé with SS and BvS. I'm almost upset with myself that I haven't left the theater with a smile on my face after watching them because I feel like I should have come out loving them but didn't. I honestly don't feel like I'm that hard to please either. I just want the characters to be represented well and to be pulled into the story behind them. There have been a few moments in both films that I enjoyed but overall I've left them with a huge feeling of disappointment.

There's plenty of bad superhero films I can still watch and enjoy, but this certainly wasn't one of them. I think even with the same exact script, with a different director, it would of made all the difference.

But still liked it right? :D

:lol

After mulling it over, I do want to rate it higher than I did... but I just can't.

I'll probably watch BvS today or tomorrow.

Did he give her the Bat glare during the climax? :lol

:lol :lol I couldn't help feeling bad for Nightwing when I realized they were going to have sex. Pretty **** move by Batman if you ask me.
