it's worth it for the back drops...
i'll tell you from experience the cloth ones will piss you off!
these come with the solid plastic back grounds... worth the money for them honestly!

plus you can get the reflective acrylic plates to get the mirrored effect and they show better w/ plastic back grounds... this was just a crap point click cell phone pic, nothing fancy:

Although it is tempting to get one with built in lights. Do you just plug it right in the wall?

yup... in that pic above, that's all of it. there's a little pouch on the back that power adapter stores in. when you use it, you just plug it in to the chord on the top that the mounted lights use. super simple.

The cloth backdrops are a pain if you don't keep them rolled and wrinkle-free. The plastic ones are much nicer.
