I spend 10 minutes with my new light box today at lunch. It's going to take me some time to figure out the best lighting and all that, but I like it so far.

It was $129 on Kickstarter. I went big though and got the whole set with the 360 platform and Halo bar. The lighting I set up for those pics doesn't even have the extra Halo bar light though. I'm going to play around with it and see how it looks with everything set up, but I was really surprised at how nice it looks with just the normal lights.

looks good! once you get familiar with it, check out the reflective acrylic bases you can get on amazon to get the mirrored effect. works pretty cool!

Does the base just blend in naturally with the backdrop? I can't tell where one stops and one begins in that pic.

Sideshow put the Ecto-1 up for preorder, but I'm terrified of what they'll charge for shipping. If I decide to get it, I think I'll order it from Timewalker and take a weekend trip to pick it up.

No, you just learn how to position items in relationship to not get the reflective lighting showing from the top and the merging into the rollout background. Basically that picture is cropped and you don’t see the hard edges. It’s pretty quick to get the feel for where to move things and your position / angles when you take the picture to get what you want out of it. Then you tweak it after you are done with cropping and different black levels and saturation and such.etc. It’s well worth the few dollars to pick up a cheap set for the effect you get with the light boxes!

I keep waffling on picking it up! The thing is amazing but I just have no clue where I would put it! I am fearful that it would end up just being stuck in a big box like so much of the other crap I have already is!

I’m in the same boat. I want it but hate the idea of spending that much then having it sitting in a box forever.

Don't know what you guys think, but from where I'm sitting that prototype absolutely murders anything HT have put out vehicle-wise. Full chassis, engine, all that interior detailing - yes, the price tag is insane but if the final product measures up, I'd say it justifies it.

It’s absolutely beautiful. I don’t know if I’d want it as much after they revealed the price if I hadn’t seen it in person at SDCC. I had to go back and look at it a few times just because I couldn’t believe how good it looked. I hope they can deliver on the production piece.

That's a nice collection. What's the name of that big guy on the bottom right with the sword? I think I saw that on BBTS.
