Btw Zod, just for fun- who are the nicest personalities and the not-so-nice ones you've met?

For conventions you never know what kind of experience you're going to get when it comes to celebrities. I've met a ton of them, but George Takei, William Shatner, Adam West, Nathan Fillion (and pretty much the entire Firefly cast), and Nichelle Nichols have been my absolute favorites. They spent time talking and joking before they signed anything and then kept talking after signing. Kevin Conroy is awesome too because he'll talk to you then take a pic with you for free.

My worst have been Stan Lee, John Cusack, and Christopher Lee. I've seen Stan Lee a few times and he only acknowledged me once. He just signs ****, slides it over, and grabs the next thing to sign. One time I saw him playing on his phone while making a guy wait then didn't apologize or anything. Just signed his stuff and got back on his phone. John Cusack didn't say hi or anything even though we tried to get him to talk and we were the only people in his line. After he signed the pic I said "thanks" and he nodded at me. Christopher Lee was in a ****** mood and only signed copies of his autobiography. He spent most of my time in front of him arguing with one of the Forbidden Planet workers.

Most of the rest fall into the middle-of-the-road category. They smile, sign a pic, and make about 20 seconds of small talk then look at the next person in line. Mark Hamill was like that and he charged the most out of anyone I've seen. He wasn't rude in any way, but when you spend a ton of money to see some of these people you want to get a little conversation or something out of it to make it a memorable experience.

I have the Sideshow Emperor and chair, but I'm getting this guy anyway.

He looks way better and finally comes with some damn lightning!

HT really did a good job with this one. The likeness rocks and the cloak looks amazing. Plus, I like that the chair lights up--even though I probably won't use it much. :lol Another one I'm looking forward to is Tarkin. I got notice yesterday that he'll ship out this month.

How cute is Jewel Staite in person?
- I was ( ok still am :lol) smitten with Kaylee and what little of saw of her in Star Gate

John Cusack I can totally believe, he has an arrogance about him. Christopher Lee was probably the guy that's only interested if the person or subject interests him.

You're right though and it's the one thing I'd be anxious about, yes you'd get you signature and photo (etc), but if the meeting was underwhelming or downright disappointing it ruins the whole thing.

On the plus side I now have 'Kaylee' on my mind hah :monkey3

Jewel Staite was really sweet. I loved meeting every Firefly cast member because they all took time to chat even though some of their lines were crazy with a lot of people waiting. The only cast member I'm missing is Morena, and I'm going to get hers in Dallas this year if she doesn't cancel again. She's already cancelled twice so I'm going to be pissed if she does it again.

I can believe that, she strikes me (they all do frankly - save Morena going of what you've said) as people who enjoy the experience are lovely to converse with and most importantly enjoy meeting fans. Rather than those who do it for a quick pay cheque.

I'd like to meet them myself one day, living the UK I've never seen them pop up on the usually lackluster rota of actors attending our watered down Conventions :(

I do hope you get to meet Morena this time around! :duff

That's awesome Zod! I always saw the Firefly crew as a bunch of nice people in real life. I have great admiration for Stan Lee, but for the past decade I've been hearing unfavorable stories about him, almost as if he's as bad as Bob Kane. :lol

Have you met Summer Glau? It definitely would be tough deciding getting something signed between either River Tam or Cameron.

Morena's married to her Gotham co-star "constipated" Ben Mckenzie so maybe it will be easier to catch her at a Gotham panel.

I know a lot of celebrities don't make it over there, but the only person I care to meet was at the London movie and film convention last year. Terence Stamp made a rare appearance, and I didn't find out until after the fact. I would have traded my trip to SDCC for a trip to London to meet him though they'd probably have carted me off for stalking because I would have just gotten right back in line after meeting him so I could talk to him again. :lol

I saw her with the rest of the cast. I ended up getting a River pic signed to go with the rest of the Firefly pics I got that year. I'd like to frame them all together when I get the entire cast. I really wanted to get a Cameron pic, but I spent an absolute **** ton of money at that convention that year and just couldn't get two pics of her when she charges $80 a pop. I keep an eye out for her convention appearances though because I'm definitely getting her to sign a Cameron pic at some point. She just hasn't been at one near me in the last 3-4 years.

I told my wife before they announced Morena that I hoped she'd be there since McKenzie was already slated to attend. Now I just have to cross my fingers that nothing crazy pops up that makes her cancel. I think she's pretty notorious for cancelling conventions so I'm trying not to get my hopes up again.

:lol :lol

> NO MORE Terence Stamp for this man..

*But Whittington He's travelled from far away lands.

> Sigh.. back in line...

:monkey3

Hah. Terence Stamp what a Boss. :rock

I understand Michael Rooker might be attending the Birmingham MCM Comic Con this year,
so if that's true I may hop on the train as it's only an hour or so from me.

That's still awesome! Btw, do you use any special glass frames or acid free materials to store your signed stuff? I saw something on TV the other day about this guy who collects signed baseball cards and posters and they all have some kind of custom material layered on top. For the life of me I forgot what that show was.

At least you're in the UK. Could be worse- you could be in a third world country where no one wants to go to! :lol

Michael Rooker attends a lot of conventions here. I haven't gotten anything signed from him, but people in his line always look like they're having fun. He comes out from around his table and takes pics with the crowd a bunch.
