I missed seeing it in the theater but ordered it on blu ray. I'm not surprised that it's better than BvS. After watching all these DC cartoons lately, I'm even more angry with the DC live action films.

It's fantastic and the Spider-Man stuff was soooo good. I just pre-ordered the blu ray since I can imagine seeing this a few times over. The story feels a lot like the Cadmus arc from JLU but they way it play out is incredibly exciting. The last time I was go giddy about a superhero movie was the original Avengers and I think this is a much better film.

I can't wait for the solo Spider-Man film now, the kid playing him has so much potential.

That's good news about Spider-Man. I've tried not to see too much about the film online so hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised when I watch it.

Oh you will. :lol

I can imagine DC hitting their heads against the wall desperately trying to dissect why this film works. You can see from the Justice League trailer that they're already trying to copy the beats by injecting forced humor but I just don't buy it.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm done with DC live action films. They consistently fail on even the most basic levels that I just don't see them bouncing back without some major retooling. I just pray to God they'll continue to rip off the overrated comic books like TDKR while leave stuff like Batman Beyond untouched, since I know they'll find ways to spectacularly F-it up.

The majority of the DC cartoon series are some of the best, most concise stories done in the genre. There is actual thought put behind the stories as well as deference to the fans in terms of what they do with the characters. It's amazing how they get so much characterization done in 20 minutes--and it only builds as you watch more episodes. Bruce Wayne in Batman Beyond is still Bruce Wayne--despite his age and what he's gone through as Batman. There are core aspects of the characters that you shouldn't change. Batman is not a rage monster that kills to solve problems like he is in BvS. He isn't going to get played by Lex Luthor to the point that he throws all rational thought out the window. He's going to do the work--be a detective first--and look at the situation from all angles instead of being duped into abandoning his code. Just thinking about him in BvS pisses me off all over again. I don't care how cool the warehouse fight scene was--Batman is not a patsy that's used to further the ridiculous agenda of anyone.

Happier times, before Batman needed to get his **** wet by his colleague's daughter.

Agreed. I love TAS of both Fox's Spider-Man and X-Men, but TAS of both Batman and Superman both had such a level of atmosphere and writing that was second to none.

I always loved this scene with old Bruce.

That's a great scene. Just a few seconds but says so much about how DC didn't lose who the character was regardless of age.

I know some people that didn't like Beyond, but I don't know how you could when Bruce is still very much Batman.

I still want to know what the hell he did with his cane here to get such a blubbering confession :lol

I wished they released Static Shock on DVD or blu ray. Batman, Batman Beyond and the JL all had cameos in that show.

Batman Beyond is what happens when the moneymen demand something bile-vomitingly awful in its conception (teenage high-school Batman), and a team of very talented people then sit down and work out how to make that pitch work.

Couldn't have said it better. Conceptually, there are an infinite number of ways it could've been ****ed up, had the DCAU guys either not cared or not been involved. It's a wonder it turned out as well as it did, and, to be honest, the DCAU is still probably the most perfect continuity I've seen, as far as DC goes. Not only because of how pitch perfect the characters are, but the continuity is so damn perfect and well thought out.

Speaking of the DCAU, I got lucky and found a single Gods and Monsters steelbook stashed at my local Target, and I've got to say, it doesn't disappoint. I wasn't too caught up in it, at first, because it was such a different concept, but not only was it unique, it also had some fascinating and compelling characters, in their own rights. Honestly, I'd love to see Timm do more with that universe. Maybe even a crossover movie between the Gods & Monsters League and the regular DCAU JL. It would be neat to see the clash in ideologies between the two, and, I was about to say Superman's distrust of the G&M Superman due to his lineage, but then it struck me: DCAU Superman never involved Zod in...really, anything. The closest we got was probably Jax-Ur and Mala, who seemed kind of like they were supposed to be stand-ins for Zod and Ursa.

I have Gods and Monsters in my backlog, I always wanted to see it but the concept alienates me. I hope it's good.

Holy ****.. how could this happen?

I always wondered why Zod wasn't in the DCAU but the series has a history of off limit characters. Over 90% of Batman's rouges were not allowed in JLU and we're left with only Hugo Strange, Professor Milo and the Clock King, and so is Robin and the Bat-family (although Nightwing did have a small cameo in JLU). Aquaman also disappeared in later seasons due to DC withholding rights to the DCAU producers.

G&M was much better than I expected. The three clips they released to introduce the characters before the film was released were pretty good too. There must have been licensing issues for Zod and Ursa. Jax-Ur was in the early comics and so was Mala--but Mala was male. DC changed Mala from male to female for the cartoon and put her with Jax-Ur to represent Zod and Ursa. As far as I can remember, the two characters were never portrayed together in the comics.

I have Gods and Monsters in my backlog, I always wanted to see it but the concept alienates me. I hope it's good.

It's a pretty good Elseworld's story. I love the character designs. I'm actually going to take an extra Superman figure from the film that I bought and repaint it as Zod since that's the only way I'll get an animated Zod on my shelf.

Holy ****.. how could this happen?

Because no one at DC wanted me to be happy--and they still don't.

In the end greedy *******s not letting us get quality.
