I finally got on the Wait list. Now I need to know what to do with the 'ghost' exclusive one I supposedly order. I want to cancel it but I don't think I should pay any cancellation fees. I'm going to write to Sideshow.

i don't believe you have to pay any fees until money has been taken from your account.

With the way my online experience was today, I'm really nervous now about PPOs for Vader, Stromtroopers, Droids, even someone like Tarkin.

Is it complications with the new site that's causing the problems? Or was there just that many people clamoring for Indy Ex?

Dusty, do you think that today's technical issues will be officially addressed?

How do you mean 'officially'? From our end, it was about the same as some of the really popular Star Wars PPO's - in fact, better than some! Remember Old Obi-Wan, when the site actually crashed COMPLETELY - smoking servers and everything?

Unfortunately, when you have thousands of people trying to access the same place all at one time, there's only so much that can be done. We do our best by taking phone orders simultaneously, etc. (Reward Points will be rewarded to phone orders taken today, BTW! - we'll be updated the news post with this info)

Add that to only 1000 pieces, and there's no way to avoid people being disappointed - that's the unfortunate aspect of dealing in limited editions. Luckily with this piece, the Regular edition is equally as AMAZING and the exclusive is in no way a 'must-have' :duff

Kinda sounds like a good call on making the exclusive just a changing head... There would be rioting in the streets if it had been a good exclusive. Congrats to everyone who got one and good luck to those of you on the waitlist.

The only reason people may be worried is re-sale value I think.

I'm sure The Powers That Be have identified the possible problems with those items you listed - perhaps 'inclusive' or 'TBD' will be the order of the day with those EXTREMELY popular characters? (I know NOTHING - just speculating like the rest of you) - we'll just have to see when they happen, I'm sure there are lots of possibilities! So don't start worrying yet :)

I think with this Indy, there were a lot more people interested than expected for a $280 item. I mean, if the site had been rollin', I think it would have broken even the Obi-Wan Clone Wars record!! Which is absolutely amazing for a Premium Format figure with a 1000 piece edition size - no previous PF sales, even Star Wars, have been like that, so there's no prior experience to base it on! :google

So, from your point of view it's 'business as usual'. Ok.. It's just that I had the impression that the problems during todays PPO had another source than those in the past. But if you say its due to overload, then that's ok. I just wanted to know what the reason for these error messages where, and now I know. Thanks.

Goes to show you the accuracy of our polls. :)

CONGRATS on a great sale, and a fantastic piece!!!

Still the BEST INDY EVER!

Sighs with relief...for now. :)

This was the worst PPO ever for me. By the time I finally got through it had sold out and that has never happened to me before, I've always been able to get a PPO I wanted sooner or later. :banghead Fortunately, I don't care about the exclusive so I'll probably get the regular from a dealer but I did order the regular on line just in case. However, if this was a LotR PF, I would have lost my mind and would have had to hunt someone down to be made an example of, even if they weren't directly responsible. :lol

I'm sure GG is having a good laugh over this PPO. I guess I can't bust their balls about their on-line ordering system anymore and point to how Sideshow does it.

I think the difference is that alot of people want the exclusive they just aren't going to display it.

If this happens with Vader I will unite the Kurgans and the Gears of War Freaks and march on Sideshow headquarters and burn and pillage.

Fortunately, that is not our concern. We in no way control how much our products sell for on the secondary market. I mean, I guess you could argue that we could slightly affect it with the edition size, but even that is fickle at best. Some items with no set edition size or a fairly large one sell for more, and some with a really low number sell for less. Just depends on what's popular at the moment... watch, if the Indy IV film sucks (which I hope to GOD it doesn't - but some of Lucas' comments haven't reassured me), resale value on Indy items will drop. Has nothing to do with what WE do or do not do - we just like Indy and it's a dream license for many of our artists.

Some things we expect to be really popular aren't, and some that we never expected become 'sleeper hits' - it really is like the stock market or sports betting in that no one can predict resale value with any accuracy... I mean, who would have predicted the whole Hicks model kit thing BEFORE it happened?!

So if you (a generic 'you' - not specifically YOU) buy something ONLY because you expect to be able to turn around and flip it for twice what you paid, just be careful and don't blame *us* if the value stays the same, or even drops - you are, in essence, gambling :duff

I believe not until after PPO is completely over (after Noon PT), as downloading hi-res pics creates another hi load for the servers to handle :duff

EDIT: Well, since it IS after Noon, I'd say just wait a bit longer - patience - we have quite a few months to fill in between now and when it ships :lol

Thanks Dusty ! :)

I do have to admit I did not expect Indy to sell out so fast... guess his popularity is still strong as ever. Probably a smart move on SSC part of advertising him in Toyfare and getting the word out.
