To each his own on the exclusive. Whichever version collectors own, I'm anticipating either one will be far superior to any other high-end Indy collectible to date. I challenge Sideshow to outdo themselves with the next PF piece.

Only one will challenge--- and that's a longshot possibility--- Mola Ram.:D

I have had thoughts of canceling my order and going for the regular but am undecided.

Probably not a bad idea if you can save some money. Think about it...How often would you ACTUALLY display it w/o the hat on.

I don't think anyone really likes the exlcusive for the hatless head. Its more that the hat head is *removeable* which could be invaluable if production paint apps are less than stellar. It'll be incredibly easy to just ship the head to a customizer rather than the full PF.

If the production paint apps are somehow perfect then I'll agree that the exclusive is completely pointless, though I admit to being surprised at just how often Indy had his hat off in Raiders after watching it again recently.

Even one of his most famous lines, "I don't know, I'm making this up as I go," was delivered sans the hat.

I didn't get the exclusive, but almost wish I had just because they ship first. :lol The repaint angle is a good one, but I would be too afraid to mail it for fear it gets lost in the mail. And I wouldn't be happy with the hatless headsculpt. So I'll just hope that those SDCC pictures are quite accurate to how it will look in hand.

I did end up canceling this awhile ago... just not a statue collector. He does look to be the ultimate version out there, but just not something I need.

Picked up the KOTCS DVD Gift Set with the Sideshow crystal skull. The sculpt is amazing. I'm wondering how it'll look in comparison to the Indy PF. Might have to repaint my exclusive head to look like a KOTCS Indy to utilize the option of swapping out the fedora head with the custom-aged exclusive head and placing the skull in his hand when I'm bored of the fertility idol.

That's a cool display idea. If you do that you'll have to be sure to post pics.

I just had to think of something to do with the extra head to justify the exclusive and after getting the skull last night, it hit me. Posing him without the fedora is just soooo not Indy. Yet, in KOTCS, he spent quite a bit of time with his hat off, so assuming the skull's to scale, it might work. Now if someone wants to "provide a modified sculpt of" the exclusive head and do a more accurately aged Harrison, I'd be up for picking that up too (hint...hint).

Honestly, I'm surprised Sideshow didn't think of that. Then again, it'd hinder sales of their eventual KOTCS Indy PF so they may very well have but decided against it.

That's a serious no-no :nono and very frowned on here by collectors. I hope (and I'll take it) that you're just kidding.

If you're not...

I think you misunderstood my post and I could, admittedly, have worded it better. How is changing an existing sculpt to look like an older sculpt of the actor frowned upon? Several of the customizers here in these very forums modify existing sculpts to be more "screen accurate." I wasn't talking about molding the exclusive and reproducing it for sale, I was talking about modifying the current sculpt to represent an older Indy (18+ years worth of crowsfeet, wrinkles and gray hair).

Use of the word "recast" is the no-no. Repainting a sculpt or even adding to it (as Darren for example has done) is fine... But a recast can be an ugly word.
