So lazy of them to use yet another simplified angular art style over Boland's.

Unless its a japanese studio with the proper budget all those Warner Bros animated movie Will always go for the easiest route.
Yet year one was pretty good character design wise, too bad the sets sucked, too simplified.

It's really sad when a 1992 4:3 grainy animated TV show for kids looks more mature than a 2016 animated film based on Alan Moore's graphic novel.

The only thing I don't like, beside the cast of BTAS voicing all the characters....is that they are using the colors from the 2008 reissue of the book. Which means Batman doesn't have the yellow emblem, and joker is wearing a green vest instead of orange, plus the look of the film looks more like the 2008 book, which lacks all the crazy colors from the 80's book.

Wow, really? Why?

I'm sick of them...and their annoying fans are worst than SW fanboys. Every animated movie..."Where's Hamill and Conroy? If they're not in it...it sucks! They ARE those character.. NO ONE ELSE...every other version is not as good!" I can't wait for those guys to retire already. Also, the last thing I wanted was to feel like I was watching the animated series, which I like...but this is something else, like The Dark Knight Returns. It's as if that little group of people from BTAS have a monopoly when it comes to Batman. I would have preferred someone else playing Bats and Mr J, but that's just me. I'll probably like the movie since I like the comic book.

See...what did I tell you...:lol

Can't wait to see this. Original voice cast being back is just icing on the cake.

Thing is, whenever they do stunt casting for the voices it ends up being almost universally bad. From Batman Year One, Red Hood, TDKR, to Son if Batman, they all sounded really, really bad.

Now don't get me wrong- there are plenty of actors that could do the roles. Diedrich Bader, the voice of Batman in the Brave and the Bold cartoons comes to mind, he's definitely the best Batman voice since Kevin Conroy. And Troy Baker does a great Joker, but why fall to more stunt casting when you have the tried-and-true dynamic duo?

Well for one, they are the best Batman and Joker ever brought to the screen. Might as well get as much of that old gang back together as they can. Alfred and Gordon are sorely missed in there though. Some people are going to hate this as they hate everything, but its looks like they are really doing a fantastic job on it and I for one will be trying really hard to see it at SDCC.

It may seem like a small nitpick to some, but I didn't like them taking the yellow oval off of the bat symbol either. At the time of the 2008 reissue I figured they did that so Batman's costume more closely resembled how it did in the current comics, but it seemed like flawed logic to me, as that's not the way the bat symbol looked when the story was published. On top of that, in the original version, when Batman's costume still had the yellow oval on the bat symbol, it also helped convey a significant passage of time, as in the flashback scenes, Batman's costume appropriately did not have the yellow oval on the symbol. Also, the way the bat part of the symbol is drawn when they use the version with the yellow oval, just looks different, and just taking the yellow part away leaves a very weird looking symbol.

I love Conroy and Hamill as much as the next guy. But you are 100% right, on everything.

I'm not loving how this looks so far. I've been watching a lot of pre 00's Annie May and it may have spoiled my standards a bit for a while, it always does, the animation here looks ok, the art is too plain and clean, the background art is just "there", generic, even some of it looks like 3D CG :slap I HATE 3D CG in 2D animation, and the voices do take me out of it, probably cause it's animated like TAS so it's closer to home, the voices never distract me in the Arkham games but they sure do here.

Having said that, this does look up to standards with pre52 DC movies, just, I expected a bit better for this story I guess. Why do 20+ years old Chinese cartoon movies look, move, sound and feel better than most modern western animations?

Honestly, I think Conroy and Hamill deserve this one after all the work they've done, and I think it's for them as much as it is for their fans. For decades, this has been the big one. Just recently, someone asked Conroy which story he wants to do the most, and he said that it's The Killing Joke and they're doing it, now; right in the video, they talk about how Hamill would even come out of retirement for this one. As far as this being their coup de grâce goes, though, I don't think so; I think that, at this point, these characters are in their bones and they'll do it as long as they're able.

I actually got a kick out of the fact that, after everything that's been said, once this was finally announced with Conroy and Hamill returning, it was like a month before we got news that they'd be back for that new Justice League show.:lol Honestly, though, I think it looks great. Ray Wise seems like he'd be an awesome Gordon, as well.
