The only thing we've seen so far that really bothers me is the Batmobile. The Bolland version is so iconic. It IS The Killing Joke. Why change that? Why???! :-/

I'm sick of them...and their annoying fans are worst than SW fanboys. Every animated movie..."Where's Hamill and Conroy? If they're not in it...it sucks! They ARE those character.. NO ONE ELSE...every other version is not as good!" I can't wait for those guys to retire already. Also, the last thing I wanted was to feel like I was watching the animated series, which I like...but this is something else, like The Dark Knight Returns. It's as if that little group of people from BTAS have a monopoly when it comes to Batman. I would have preferred someone else playing Bats and Mr J, but that's just me. I'll probably like the movie since I like the comic book.

See...what did I tell you...:lol

Maybe they are not fan boys... maybe they just like then because they are GOOD. I don't want anyone other than James Earl Jones to voice Darth Vader or Anthony Daniels to voice 3PO... some voices just work perfectly.

The only thing I don't like, beside the cast of BTAS voicing all the characters....is that they are using the colors from the 2008 reissue of the book. Which means Batman doesn't have the yellow emblem, and joker is wearing a green vest instead of orange, plus the look of the film looks more like the 2008 book, which lacks all the crazy colors from the 80's book.

Agree 100%.

I don't like the style for this at all. Why is Batgirl all black, why is the Batmobile a BTAS and TNBA hybrid? The colors are all muted from that reprint book and none of those scenes look like Bolland's art work. Not even close. I never liked how that reprint got rid of the yellow oval, Joker's classic orange vest or the overall look both of those characters had in the 1980s. It's like they changed it to fit the boring look The Dark Knight had or something.

Not interested in this at all. I agree about the voices too. I love BTAS and Conroy and Hamill, but give it a rest already. Is this the Killing Joke or a BTAS reunion?

But Bolland did the colors in the reprint book because he wasn't happy with the original colors.

Which was lame and boring. A few panels without the psychedelic colors were alright because he original at times was kinda crazy with the pink, red, and yellow, but that washed out look in the reprint was terrible. Sucked the life out of the whole story.

Yeah, I much prefer the original colors but I know sometimes with these things they like to get artist input or blessing and maybe the muted colors was a trade-off.

They definitely went for the quickest, cheapest animation they could do. I think I'm in the monitory of people that actually prefers motion comics like Thor & Loki. Sometimes it's only way to do justice to great comic art.

There's a difference between thinking they're good, which they are, and thinking they are the definitive versions of those characters and everything else pales in comparison, and that's what those "fanboys" think, and it's a little annoying because other voice actors and live action actors have been just as good or better, IMO.

I also think there's a difference between Vader and Batman and Joker. Darth Vader was born in film and for about 30 years, there was only one version of that character, and it was the one in the SW trilogy. That all will change now that Disney will milk that brand, and make cartoons and video games, so they might not be able to get James Earl Jones because he's older, so they'll get new actors...who knows? I don't really care. The point is, for at least 30 years, there was only one Darth Vader voice and James Earl Jones was the originator of that voice, and that character did not exist before 1977.

The same can't be said about Conroy and Hamill. They did not originate anything, they weren't the first, and those characters existed before and after their time in the Bruce Timm cartoons. Batman and Joker were born in the comics and for almost 30 years the Joker didn't have a voice until Cesar Romero gave him a sound, a laugh, and a personality, not Hamill. After Romero there were other versions in cartoons and of course Jack Nicholson, and even after the Bruce Timm cartoons were done, there were even more versions in other cartoons, animated films and live action movies and tv shows. I get that a generation of people grew up with Hamill and Conroy...I'm one of them, but personally, I never saw them as definitive versions of those characters, and honestly as I much as like Hamill's voice, I like some of the other voice actors just as much if not more. I really like Batman: Under the Red Hood and The Dark Knight Returns animated films. It was refreshing hearing new voices. I thought those voices went well with the source material, but had Conroy and Hamill been playing those roles, they would have done what they always do, and that's a very specific version of those characters that I associate with the 90's cartoon, not the source material they're supposed to represent. Hopefully, this film is a good representation of the book, and not just a BTAS reunion special.

Man, I forgot just how much, in general, I disliked the coloring of the reissue version. You're right, the colors look very washed out. Glad I kept my original copy.

I do agree with the anti-reprint people. Bolland's new stuff is so grey, and it's like the antithesis of what I thought made that book awesome. Those gaudy, neon colors really gave everything this unsettling, surreal quality, and it's a shame we won't get to see that brought to life in the film. Honestly, I haven't even bothered to get the new version of the book. I'm content with my, like, 13th printing, that my friend at my LCS gave me years ago.

Hamill and Conroy have the most well-established voices for the characters, due to their decades of extensive work in BTAS, and more recently their involvement in the Arkham Games. No one else has handled the Joker and Batman as much as them. So, when it comes to the major animated releases, the fans would want them being casted for the roles.

Of course, they'll have to retire at some point because they're certainly not getting any younger. But, you might as well enjoy the ride, because when it's over, you'll be wishing they were back.

Conroy has voiced SO MANY versions of Batman outside of BTAS, most famously the Arkham Batman. He was also held the role in many DTV movies (such as the Justice League films) that had nothing to do with BTAS. I don't get why the complains since it's not like he jumped straight from BTAS to the Arkham Games to this.
