The game is 16-18 hours long, has a new game + mode, and a multiplayer mode as well.

I've payed full price for less many times this gen. Still, your mileage may vary. Some games give more than others, and some gamers see valuation as hours per dollar. I am content if a game delivers, even if it's just a handful of hours long.

Yes it also has multiplayer, which you can checkout on YouTube.

I understand how you feel as I'm also not keen on spending $60 on a single player game but this is one of those games that I just can't wait to play.

Naughty Dog have stated this is their biggest / longest game yet. 16+ for a single player campaign is almost unheard of these days. The average is what, 10-12? As for the more multiplayer heavy games (CoD etc.), their campaigns are nearer to 6-8 hours.

The multiplayer in The Last Of Us is rumoured to be pretty special, though little has been seen yet. Time will tell, but personally I think this is a Day One purchase

I love campaign modes because sometimes I just like to play alone. However, considering a lot of my day is spent in front of the ps3 with my friends playing Uncharted 3 Multi together, the coop for LOU will be a big deal.

I really wanted to get this game, but I have heard it is only 16 hours long (at most) and I just cant rationalize spending $60 on game with so little play time.

God, is it Thursday yet? I only ask because I intend to see Man of Steel at midnight, and wake up the next morning to play The Last of Us. I wonder if this is a one-off by Naughty Dog, or if they might try to turn it into a franchise. Even if the game wasn't left open for a sequel, they could still craft stories around other survivors and their experiences in the world. Imagine if there were a sequel where your main character was an empathetic protagonist, and you played the game through, and got to know and like him, only to find out that, at the game's ending, he wound up being one of the survivors killed by Joel and Ellie.

Hey....hey....I hate you.

I've been spending this week going for the Platinum on Max Payne 3 to help pass the time. Completed it on Hard and Hardcore, now playing through on Old School.

As much as I'm looking forward to this game, and cannot wait to play it, I won't be too upset if my pre-order doesn't arrive on Friday. I don't want to get too engrossed in it as I'm in London for a course all day Saturday and Sunday, so won't be able to invest that much time in it until Sunday night. I'd just be sitting there in the course daydreaming about things I wanna do in the game.

I mainly play RPG's and open world games, I have been spoiled by games that offer 100+ hours to finish, but I tend to think 40+ hours is a good value.
