With the looming Trump tariffs, I assume Sideshow is expecting a LOT of cancellations and probably placed a much smaller order for a lot of new figures as a result.

Got my order in a few weeks back.

I'm sure you'll be able to find him and Maul from other retailers overseas when they do release, but glad I got my order in.

Good point, this presidency has been a disaster already a few days in, these tariffs might affect a lot of people's collecting habits if he goes through with them.

I believe many people are unaware that tariffs serve as a means to bring someone to the negotiating table. They are not absolute.

Current tariff casualties over here:
*Inart Paul Atreides
*HT Terminator, damaged version

And I really want both those figures.... of course as soon as I cancelled Atreides, he shipped. Had I known that I would have kept him. I was expecting later on in the year, when these tariffs will really start to bite.

With Arnie its more complicated, he's very expensive.... and then the Wolfpack showed up. [A surprise, but a pleasant one nonetheless.] Right now only ppl I cant live without are on my list. If I can get all these guys paid for beforehand, I will pick Arnie back up if he's still available.

(the tariffs) are not absolute.

They're sure not; they could well go even higher, depending on the childish pique of the individual making the decision. The last number for China that I saw floated was 60%. Every day that number changes, according to the mood and whim of those involved. I dont see how this isn't going to crash the entire economy, but admittedly I'm no Master-degreed economist.

Yup, I’m actively working on paying off whatever I can now, even figures like Wolffe and Plo Koon that aren’t due out for a year. The way I look at it - the economy will be great and I’ll have extra money to burn or the economy will be awful and I’ll have no extra money to burn, so I’m paying off stuff now while I can to get ahead of it. No idea what collecting will be like in a few months.

If Canada is getting 25%, no way the actual number on China will be 10%

Hell no! He hates China with a passion! We could be so lucky it would end up being 10%!

This is exactly what I'm doing, in order of the date of preorder. Kit and Echo are paid for, Fives is half paid for - and I'm going to keep it rolling. I'm in no rush, but every payday I just... make another payment :p

I'm no expert on this stuff, but if you've already got an order in with Sideshow for X dollars, would tariffs effect those orders? Would the shipping be astronomical, as that would be the only way they could recoup some of their money if they're hit with tariffs. Sideshow can't say "I know we charged you $280 for Kit Fisto, but it's actually going to be $400 now because of tariffs..."? Right?

It’s hard to say, but I believe people are overreacting. During the first term, the items that were affected were apparel, car parts, furniture, and computer equipment. Many people either forgot or were unaware that the subsequent administration retained or even increased the majority of tariffs. However, there was no change in the pricing of SS with the exception of inflation.

Correct, Mexico and Canada is looking to be 25% while China apparently is 10% Just a quick google search.
The actual answer is that no one really knows what’s coming and what to expect. I don’t see any way that he’d go as light as 10% on China, if or when it happens. All I know is that this hobby of mine stems from a country that may be severely impacted by tariffs and I want to be prepared to still have the pieces I want.

The state of New Jersey is obscene with property taxes. Everyone I know that has natural gas for heat just had their bills double going into 2025. Mine went from $228 in December to $480 in January, some neighbors have it worse. We’re all going to be up Schitt’s Creek with this freeze. Insurance prices are skyrocketing on home, auto and pet. Groceries bills are climbing by the month.

All I’m saying is that if hobbies are going to increase in price by potentially a lot as well, it seems prudent to be prepared and be ahead over getting caught with our pants down.

I'm still not clear what impact tariffs would have on orders I've already placed with Sideshow... That's the part I'm head scratching. Paying them off early doesn't help me in the long run, does it?
