Re: 'The Last of Us' - new IP from Naughty Dog

I'm surprised I didn't run out of ammo. The bloated actually wasn't that difficult in the Gym. One molotov and a few shotgun blasts and he was out. I just need to remember that when I work up the cajones to revisit the hotel basement.:lol

What difficulty? Bloaters take about 3 Molotovs on Survivor.

Re: 'The Last of Us' - new IP from Naughty Dog

I think the story was great, some of the best cutscenes I've seen in a game. My main problem was with the gameplay though. It never felt like I was actually in a dire situation to save my supplies. Also, am i the only one who thought the gameplay was a little repetitive? It felt like there were a ton of fights that could've been cut out. But I understand that in the end of the day it's an action game and they had to extend the game with those fights. Also, those parts where you had to get the ladder, find the plank, find a garbage bin, etc were done way too many times. No post apocalyptic world would have those things laying around everytime there's a ledge to reach or body of water to get over.
Don't get me wrong I still enjoyed the hell out of this game. Maybe I'm being to critical, but in my opinion it's not the "masterpiece" everyone says it is. I think it would've been a better movie than a game.

8.5/10 for me (don't kill me) :panic:

I've been playing games for 20 years. Aside from Metal Gear Solid on the PS1, i've never played a game where I felt more invested in the characters and what their fate was. It's not a perfect game. There are sections where you have to move Ellie from one location to another or are forced into spots where you have nobody else to rely on but by no means is it so repetitive that it takes away from whats going on..

When you blur the line between a video game, a movie, and something that seems so plausible by creating characters that seem so real, in a world that appears so vividly alive, it's hard not to take a lot away from it. Aside from the visual pageantry and the superb voice acting, its a game about human beings and their will to survive at any cost. I think that speaks to anybody whose alive and breathing today. Once a form of entertainment transcends being entertainment and sets a bar for all others to reach, it has successfully earned it's right to be called a "masterpiece" or any other synonym it's given. I firmly believe that this is a one of a kind game that should be experienced by all who are interested and of a mature mindset. Also, I think it makes for a better game than movie because it's much more difficult to get such a captivating performance out of real people than it is to create one using motion capture and voice overs.

I truly respect your opinion and thank you for sharing it but I just thought i'd offer mine because of how blown away I am. 10/10

You know what? I did find the fight sequences a little repetitive at first, when I was starting another fight sequence I was like: "Ok, another one, let's go" :impatient: but as soon as I started playing that fight sequence, either stealthy or rambo-style I forgot about that, the AI is soooo good and the game gives you so many approach options, that I was immediately entertained, and I realised that I felt that way because I wanted to see what happened next in the story.

When I learned that, I knew every fight sequence was going to be a blast, and it never disappointed me.

That's the reason I keep playing multiplayer, because shooting and covering in this game feels so satisfying, and I actually felt in danger when I was hit, I haven't felt that danger for a long time.

For me it's a 10/10

I thought the ending was so refreshing, I honestly would've been disappointed if either Ellie or Joel have had to die, it's an ending that fills you with insatisfaction and wanting more from these characters and at the same time, makes me not want to know more about them and just imagine the rest of their lives...

Couldn't agree more with your take on the ending. My thoughts exactly.

Since you guys loved the ending so much. What do you think the story DLC will be? Do you think it'll continue off of the ending or do something like involve completely different people. Honestly, I hope they don't add on to the ending.

Tough question, I can honestly say that I don't want to see a direct sequel, that would diminish my feelings towards the whole story and it's conclusion, so I'd like to see a side story :lecture

I think it'd be really interesting to see Joel coping with the loss of his daughter and actually seeing the civilized world changing into the post apocalypse world.

dlc will most likely be other characters during infection. Because they kept littering the game with letters from him i would say ish.

Yes, definitely. There's a whole 20 years to explore between the intro and him waking up at home. He's a tragic character that did a lot of "bad" things (as explained by Tess) before we take control of him for the 2nd time .

For sure. There's a ton of material for all kinds of sequels and or prequels.

Re: 'The Last of Us' - new IP from Naughty Dog

Not with these characters. They could go the George Romero route and show different stories with new characters from the same event.

As long as it's all DLC I would be cool with it. Making a sequel would chap my *** 7 ways to Sunday. And a prequel would likely not involve Ellie. Nope, not interested :pfft:

:goodpost:

Oh that too, I'd like to see how Joel changes from a caring father to the cold son of a ***** we see after 20 years.

Definitely there's room for "prequels" without ruining the feel of the main story.

Re: 'The Last of Us' - new IP from Naughty Dog

Just finished this game last night. The ending was very realistic but a little anti-climatic. Given the many twists and turns throughout the game, I was sort of expecting a mind blowing game change ending. But to be fair, this is as perfect and happy of an ending you can get in a last of us universe,
And besides it maintains the status quo so that more stories in thise universe can be made.

Yes, I would actually love to play the story of Ish.
I liked finding his letters in suburb sewers and reading about how his life evolved once he got back from sea. Eventho we never met him and only saw the aftermath of the Infected attack, I couldn't help but care for him. I wanna believe he had a happy ending.
