Re: 'The Last of Us' - new IP from Naughty Dog

Had I been in his shoes, I would have killed every last one of them. He did what he had to do. Period. The people who feel opposite are the ones that would die first in an apocalypse. No sense of reality.

Re: 'The Last of Us' - new IP from Naughty Dog

in a videogame? lol I think people's thoughts are just that Joel as a character isn't a good guy. In the apocalypse, in the last of us there is no GOOD guys.

Re: 'The Last of Us' - new IP from Naughty Dog

He's not a good guy, that's fleshed out from looking at his conversations with Tommy in a contextual sense, but he's not a monster, either. It's all moral gray areas; sometimes good people have to do bad things, but, in the case of the last bit, I hardly see how killing the people who are trying to kill you is wrong and makes you a monster.

Re: 'The Last of Us' - new IP from Naughty Dog

I'm getting seriously pissed off at all of these people talking about Joel turning into some sort of monster and murdering people. What the **** is he supposed to do!?!?! They say that if he moves, shoot him, so, he does what he can to save himself. Then, the rest of them come after him. If they catch you, you die, but, somehow, he's the bad guy for taking out these guys who wouldn't hesitate to put a bullet in him. They've got their cause, and he has his, and, just like they're willing to kill him for their's, so, too, is he.

That's why I no longer argue in Youtube :lol people are shortsighted and have flashy opinions.

There's NOTHING Joel could've done, leaving anyone alive is a liability that could get you killed.

Besides they leave that to the player, you could also pass by them sneaking out.

Re: 'The Last of Us' - new IP from Naughty Dog

Actually you could've left them alive and snuck past them but as for the doctors in the room I shot the first one with the shotgun. Second play through I used the scalpel. Crazy stuff

That idiot at gamespot said something along those lines. He was a pretentious nitpicky prick and gave it an unfair review. Most people don't understand survival and most importantly people don't understand why he did what he did in the ending.
There were lots of debates I saw on what Joel did was right and I say , yes. I want to talk more about it but I'm afraid people still haven't played the game. Which is a big W.T.F

Re: 'The Last of Us' - new IP from Naughty Dog

That's exactly what I thought when I read that :lol

Re: 'The Last of Us' - new IP from Naughty Dog

That's pretty much what I did the first time around, only the El Diablo sent them straight to see El Diablo. I mistook the scalpel for a gun and sent him packing, that caused the paranoia to take over, and Joel decided not to risk the other two pulling something.

No, just humans. Everyone is morally ambiguous just like real people are. No one is going to be a saint in an apocalypse.

The whole "video game" comment is uncalled for. The reason this game is so successful is because the level of believability and humanity in it.

I don't understand how people cannot fathom what Joel did in the end.

I see it like this. His daughter was SHOT DEAD by a human, not infected. Ellie was about to be killed and experimented on by humans too. I feel that in Joel's mind, humanity is past saving at this point. If you think about it, humans have done just as much (if not more) killing as the infected. Hell I'd even say the game makes a point that humans are far more dangerous than the infected. He'd rather spend the rest of his days with the one thing that has kept him sane on this journey than to let her die for a small chance that it will save humanity.

He may have been referring to the players role. In a video game a character is doing the players bidding. Joel's character isn't entirely responsible for the players choice to violently slaughter every enemy he sees.

Ah, that makes sense.

Re: 'The Last of Us' - new IP from Naughty Dog

Spoilers!!!!!!!!!

Joel is a monster? Da faq? He's a very damaged character but far from a monster. He has something to live for now.

David was the monster.

Joel was a hunter at one time. And admitted to doing horrible things to which he dosent want to speak about. Him and David share the same mind set; entitlement.

But the reason he saved Ellie was (more than likly) because he saw her as his daughter, and didn't want to lose her for a second time.

Note; it wasn't what Ellie wanted. Why he lied at the end.

Re: 'The Last of Us' - new IP from Naughty Dog

We don't know what Ellie would have decided.

Dude the beginning was so good it made me tear up. Already a good start.

Dude I sobbed like a baby. That intro rivals some of the best horror film set pieces I've seen over the last decade for audacity and sheer terror when the chaos kicks in and its still with me and I played it days ago mainly because of what happens at the end of it. Jesus. I'm glad I'm not a parent. I shudder to think what is coming as the game progresses and I have not read spoilers.

Well my game already got corrupted and now I have to start all over again good thing I only got past the first part. I'm going to restore my file system and reinstall the game. Kinda sucks now I have to play the whole first part again.

That's what David's people said when they tried to kill Joel at the science building. They wanted to kill joel and Ellie for food cuz they are cannibals and got all upset when Joel killed their friends in self-defense. "That crazy old guy and a girl p, they killed our brothers when we wanted to eat them! How dare they!
