Re: 'The Last of Us' - new IP from Naughty Dog

Ugh don't remind me. This artbook is great, I wish the MGS artbooks had this amount of content.

Re: 'The Last of Us' - new IP from Naughty Dog

This is, without a doubt, the best game of the generation. Naughty Dog has truly achieved something special with The Last Of Us (and the Uncharted series of course). They are in a league of their own when it comes to cinematic experiences in videogames. The writing was spectacular, the cinemas were breathtaking, the character development was masterful. Love this game.

If anyone wants to MP feel free to PM me. I like to think I'm pretty damn good at it.

On a related note, I got the Post-Pandemic version along with the collectible statue. To those who have the statue, does Ellie's barrel of her hunting rifle seem a little crooked? Seems it was just made that way. No sign of any type of damage inflicted. Thanks.

I got the art book for this game today. Still no game, though :lol. I'll have to pick it up soon.

Re: 'The Last of Us' - new IP from Naughty Dog

nice! at least you got a worthwhile artbook in the mail besides that legacy flyer......................

Yeah, it definitely puts the pamphlet of the MGS Legacy Collection to shame.

Re: 'The Last of Us' - new IP from Naughty Dog

Apparently, this game has sold about 3.5 million copies in 3 weeks! Awesome job, ND!

:rock :bow

SOURCE - IGN

Sony has revealed The Last of Us has sold over 3.4 million copies in three weeks, making it the fastest-selling PS3 game of 2013.

The figure takes into account both boxed and digital sales of the post-apocalyptic adventure, with Sony revealing that the PlayStation 3-exclusive has exceeded sales expectations.

Sony's Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida said, "These sales figures are a testament to the blockbuster quality of The Last of Us.

"The teams at Naughty Dog are true visionaries and their storytelling capabilities are second to none, this title is an undisputed demonstration of that. SCE continues to be committed to delivering unique gameplay experiences that redefine the interactive entertainment industry and The Last of Us is a perfect example."

Interesting fact: This is the exact same number of copies Tomb Raider managed to shift in its first month, though the multiplatform game failed to hit Square Enix's targets.

Both Naughty Dog and Sony have been tight-lipped so far over whether we'll see another game set in the Cordyceps-decimated world, though given these figures, we imagine some very interesting conversations are being had.

Re: 'The Last of Us' - new IP from Naughty Dog

Probably not, although the first one is a masterpiece as it is - Naughty Dog always delivers with sequels.

Re: 'The Last of Us' - new IP from Naughty Dog

Too many possibilities with a sequel. It can go off into many different tangents beyond Joel and Ellie.

Re: 'The Last of Us' - new IP from Naughty Dog

Agreed, they can't (or at least they better not! :angrycanu) I think if it was one and done, the ending may have been different.

I agree. Although, you could close the book on it with the ending and just assume that life just went on at Tommy's town.

Re: 'The Last of Us' - new IP from Naughty Dog

I'd rather see Joel and Ellie's story continue. Their relationship was the core of the story after all.

Re: 'The Last of Us' - new IP from Naughty Dog

I understand that and I want that, but what can be told beyond what was already? The point of the story was to build the father/daughter relationship. So they can't really do it all over again with a sequel, unless there is something that is impeding their lives in a sequel.

Re: 'The Last of Us' - new IP from Naughty Dog

They certainly built up that relationship, and by the end of the game it is 100% solidified that Joel treats Ellie as his surrogate daughter, but you can't say that there isn't more story to be told in a sequel. I'm sure there is still rough times ahead for them in that world, and situations to test their loyalty to each other.

Re: 'The Last of Us' - new IP from Naughty Dog

I think if they do another game, it will probably be different characters since they may want to build another relationship between two characters again.

I'm not really sure what I want in a sequel.

Re: 'The Last of Us' - new IP from Naughty Dog

Yeah you might be right. Me either. The first one was such an amazing experience I'd be happy to see it contained in one game. But I'm glad it's doing so well and if they want to release more then so be it.
