This is one of my favorite Sci-Fi movies of the 80's. I was 4 when I seen it in the theater. Any chance of collectible figures? I would love some 12' figures from this movie. Maybe even a Model Gunstar or something. Anyone have any customs out there?

I am 27. Soon to be 28 in January. Occasionally though I act like I'm 12! :lol:lol:lol

Yeah I really enjoyed this one when I was a young lad.

What was not to like: Spaceships, aliens and it all circled around playing a video game! :lol

I would put this on the extremely doubtful list though for sideshow making any figs or statues.

Yeah I would have to agree. It's a nice thought though. All with the exception of the half bald females. That would be kinda weird!

I liked it when I was a kid, but I wouldn't really want collectibles from it. Maybe a Gunstar but that's as far as my interest goes.

Such a cool movie, and the first time I remember seeing a lot of CGI work. I actually just saw it again on TV a couple months ago and it still holds up well. Great movie and one of the more fun, kid-centered Sci-Fi flicks.

Sadly not much chance for figures, but I'd love to at least have figures in the flight suits.

Classic movie for sure and it's still as good as ever IMO!

I also remember seeing it with my best friend when I was 8.

Death blossom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember this movie and loved it back in the day. I would say that there is little chance that a movie like this with only a cult following would receive attention from Sideshow, but the Tremors maquette would prove me wrong. You really never know with Sideshow. (And there are also some Pumpkinhead fans who would agree with me on that one.)

If we're going to go with the SW rip-offs of the late 70's & early 80's there are a ton of movies/tv shows that I would like to see before this one (an OK movie back when it came out--- I SAW it as well ... sorry--- I SEEN is a pet peeve with me--- no harm no foul:cool:).

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA done right.

BUCK ROGERS with a nice dash of Col Wilma Deering:monkey5 would be sweet.(lovin' the dvd box set that I picked up last week).

You can't be serious? Please don't go there. I am a huge Star Wars fan. Please do tell how you believe that the Last Starfighter is a direct rip off of Star Wars. Please do tell!

Never have seen it. But thanks to XM's Cinimagic, I feel I have.

Now Black Hole needs some new figures made!!

Evil even you might like this movie for what it is. It is great. It was like the first movie to use computer special effects. They are horrible looking back at it but if you watch the special features it is really cool. They had like a room full of computers to do what a calculator could do today. Very cool stuff.

Mmmmmm... Every sci-fi movie that came out after 1977 and into the mid to late 80's was attempting to capitalize on the explosive (read that $$$$) impact of Star Wars... however, if you're not satisfied with that tiny incapsulation let me dive deeper into the psyche.

TLS (The Last Starfighter)- the main protagonist is a young teenage boy with wondrous abilities that he does not realize make him destined for greater things (the basic mythos character). He is completely ignorant of his potential and needs a wiser character (played by character actor Robert Preston- the last role prior to his death). The character of "Centauri" was a "lovable-con-man"... pretending to be something that he isn't-- some type of hermit one might say. Pulled into a world and fight that would seem insurmountable-- well, not really it's not like has to shoot something that's only about two metres in width-- the hero, with help from his quirky alien pal (Grig) save the day in spectacular fashion... Oh, and just for the tech nuts reading this the Gunstar and other spaceships were the design of artist Ron Cobb, who also worked on Alien, Star Wars and Conan the Barbarian.

Here's the tagline for the '84 film..."He didn't find his dreams . . . his dreams found him." I guess the force was with him.

You're right-- there's nothing even remotely similar between these two films. Maybe except for the fact that Star Wars had a budget of $11,000,000 and the Last Starfighter's budget was $16,000,000--- I can't remember, which made more $$$ and inspired a generation of filmakers not to mention a plethora of copycats?:D
