Ok, so, just wanted to take a quick second to address the new 'Legacy Collection' Bond figures.

I'm enormously happy that SSC has restarted the Bond line. After a year of nothing but Thunberball Connery, Wai-Lin (argh), and Moonraker Moore we're finally getting a (seemingly) nice flow of interesting figures. That, of course, is based on the assumption that this is planned to coincide with 'Casino Royale'.

Don't get me wrong, I'm slightly miffed that so many great characters have yet to get figures. Goldfinger, Red Grant, Largo, M... all classic, all deserving. With the introduction of the Legacy figures, I'm worried that these may never happen. Still, I'm happy with the quality of these new figures. Love the white tux Connery, LOVE the blue suit Brosnan (though, maybe a new Brozzy headsculpt would be nice at some point).

... which brings me to the point of my post.

I'm disappointed in the Legacy Collection Roger Moore. Really disappointed.

First, I horrendously dislike the 'MWTGG' Moore headsculpt. He just looks so angry, which simply isn't The Roger. The 'LALD' scuplt is much softer, and a better representation of Moore, IMO. Second, why a white jacket? We just got Connery in the (iconic) white tux, so they'll look similar when displayed... plus, the original safari jacket Moore is close enough to white. This new one isn't a big enough change for me. Why couldn't we get Moore in the standard black 70's tux? Four figures, thus far, and none are in a tux.

I just don't understand the reasoning behind it, and feel that Moore is too close to a rehash. Will I still order it? Yeah, because I'm weak.

I just hope that Lazenby and Dalton fare better. (We'd BETTER get them.)

Oh... and psst... SSC.... NEW DALTON HEADSCULPT. PLEASE. *cough change the hair cough*

Good evening 007:D and a very warm welcome to the board.

Bond was the line that bought me to Sideshow.I can still remember the delight i felt in August 2001 when they announced the licence.I knew of them through the great Universal Monster figures i used to see in Forbidden Planet whenever i visited London. It was 6 months of waiting before any details were leaked, but when they were they covered a whole year of production,August 2002/2003.Interesting choices too,and great sculpts. All 5 Bonds!!Something i never thought i d see.A mystery why Bonds been so poorly served with action figures, given how the genre so easily lends itself.
But things really went downhill after that.Oh yeah,Q and Jaws within a month of each other in 2003 gave cause for hope that Sideshow was beginning to draw on the second stringers, and it was good to see a "Thunderball" figure at Toyfair 2004.One assumed another kitted out with the Bell-Textron rocketbelt from the highly memorable opening sequence in grey suit would nt be far behind, but here we are two-and-a-half-years on and still nothing.
And now we have...the "Legacy" Bonds:rolleyes: .I m on record elsewhere on this forum stating that this is nt Sideshow giving us more Bond-it s Sideshow regurgitating a partially digested bone and delivering patient Bond lovers everywhere a swift kick in the nads!!These are no more than expansion packs,or con-exclusives at best.Thing i like most about them is the new logo, which is great.
I d like Sideshow to come clean on this one now. What IS the problem??Is it likeness rights, licensing issues? Why are nt we seeing Pleasance Blofeld,Red Grant,Rosa Klebb,M,grey suit Bond with hat?If theres a problem and we ll never see them, then thats fine. But just a bit of hope??C'mon,it has been nearly 5 years now.And before anyone says it i KNOW about the premium format, and they re very nice.I have Connery. But not everyone has the space or cash, etc,i know you ve heard it before.
Sorry to go on,but i m just fed up with Toyfair after Toyfair,Con after Con passing with no new real Bond making an appearance.I m still loving your work,i m well into you with pre-orders and what you re doing with Star Wars is utterly magnificent.Just love you to sprinkle a little bit of that magic dust on Bond...James Bond.

I missed out on the Bonds first time round (no interest at the time) but seeing them in the suits is, for me, a far better representation than in a safari jacket or jumpsuit.

I like the idea of this line :-

Dalton in the classic Black Tux
Lazenby in the Kilt (or Black Tux)

and then...

Daniel Craig

I just hope they keep going with the "Non-Legacy" Figures.

There are so many that need doing, and so many that would be great kitbash fodder - which should help them sell through.

What other licence has Terri Hatcher and Denise Richards ? But no figure ?

Then you've got the notable absence of Goldfinger.

I'm hoping the legacy series does bring us the Commander Bond in British Naval Uniform.

Thanks all for replying. :D

Frankly, I am inclined to agree with you, Minimodel, but only to an extent. What's holding me back is the possibility of things to come... i.e. Dalton in 'TLD' gear or Lazenby in the kilt. Now, if Lazenby is in a black tux? I'm going to be slightly pissed. Laboring under the impression that these are for people who missed out the first time and don't want to pay $90 for Connery or Brosnan in a tux, while at the same time being the 'iconic' verions... Lazenby couldn't BE in anything else.

Form the beginning, I've also viewed the Legacy figures as a build-up to gain interest in 'Casino Royale'. Releasing all 5 Bonds in iconic outfits, and then finishing it off with the new James Bond? Perfect.

Of course, that's also wishful thinking on my part that once we get the Craig figure, we'll revert back to doing how the line was originally (villains, etc.).

C'mon SSC... just throw us anything!

What's With Legacy Moore's Interchangable Hands?

I could not find pictures that show what Moore's alternate hands are supposed to be, unless it's the pair on the displayed specimen, which show the left hand in a kung fu grip (for the evenings when Bond is dateless? He's a leftie!) and not SS's typical stroke victim left hand.

Perhaps they are recycling the Jedi alternate left and in which the fingers are splayed out flatter?

Yeah, I noticed that, too. Outside of what you mentioned, I can't really even think of what kind of alternate hands we would get. Plus, if it *is* just the kung-fu grip and the stroke hand... I don't fully understand the purpose behind it.

Also, does he come with the Golden Gun? The revolver?

The pictures and description are somewhat lacking... they're listing something, but not showing it... and showing something, but not listing it. Argh.

Perhaps its a mistake. There are mistakes all over the order pages lately. Oversights, I should say. For instance, Jabba's Palace Preview had Thurs the 21st instead of Friday... and on the Giles order page the "Sideshow Exclusive" box says 'Lorne' instead of Giles. Perhaps the hand thing was accidently left over from the page they copied to write the new information.

Just a thought. I'd rather have the guns than the hands!

Yeah, and we need the spinning guy above -- Sideshow Style!

I think it's all part of the craziness spawned by Comic-Con. Trying to get everything taken of all at once...mistakes are bound to happen.

Still, you'd think all the order pages would've been done in advance and rechecked for accuracy...

Beh - wouldn't make any difference to whether I'd get it or not - no harm no foul. And they did clarify the date once it was brought to their attention.

I'm with abstractharmony:

Lazenby in kilt!

Lazenby in kilt!

Lazenby in kilt!

(Don't make me strip a Highlander doll...)
