The roto swords do look better. I may end up picking that one up too.

Yeah I don't see how I could switch the hands and feet so I'm gonna stick with the body it comes on. It isn't a horrible body and it has all the basic articulation I desire. I'm gonna make a fabric hood and I'll either glue it to the plastic one or take the plastic one off and put a dummy head on.

I made a fabric hood for the Toy Biz Nazgul and I made him another cloak since the outfits were multi-layered in the movie.

Yeah it would be sweet to have nine of them, but the Toy Biz ones are hard to come by and you need those for the armor.

Here we go for Gimli !

Huge thanks to thenammagazine who inspired me, without his work, it is almost impossible to me to work on my custom so well and the Fellowship without Gimli is definitely not the Fellowship.

Fantastic custom!

My Gimli really needs a once over. Any tips you cold post? I really love how you added the bed roll and axe wrappings.

Great work C. my custom Gimli is one of my favorite fig to work on. Looks like you also used the rotocast parts for some of it. I know you made some costom leather work-show some detail shots as they look great. Did you have a chance to get the custom sculpt with longer beard. I think blind did it.

The plastic beard is pretty well sculpt, but the ultimate goal is a real beard, I know Elvis had that in mind. I will let him do the hardwork :nana: just to know how hard it is.
My Gandalf is in the same car, in waiting of a real beard.
It is done right now but if you look closely, there's a ton of things to upgrade. This time will come but later.

Ideally a step by step guide for the inept so I cold copy it :monkey3

But I'll settle for how you made the axe holders and what you wrapped the handles with. I have a roto and a toy biz doll one to try to create a worthy Gimli since I never could get a DiD one at a decent price.

What do you wanna know ?

Great looking Gimli C-Phan! Nice combination of DiD and Toy Biz parts. I was just wondering what body you used for him... did you do the DiD body mod to make him shorter? The proportions look just right in the pics.

superdoug: The haft of the DiD double axe came already wrapped with leather. C-Phan's may have been re-wrapped... hard to tell from the pics, though.

Wow, I didn't know my custom would rise so many interest, especially when we all agree that the main work has been done by thenammagazine, from the different parts to the tips.
the nammagazine fellas, remember his name, he's the one who should be thanked.
For the different part I did myself, we have the double leather backpack, sleeping black bag, and leather the straps on the main tunic.

Side axes holder :

back leather pack and Axe holder :

Ring on the belt :

Straps gauntlet and real fabric gloves :

- I use the DID body and shorted him like the recipe but I didn't remove the middle belly.
- The straps his on my own custom thread page 34 (you also got closer pics).
- I wish I had the rotocast for the shoulder armor but I used the DID boots
- The big axe holding on the back is from the Toybiz tunic and all the axes are already wrap with fabric, not leather.
- The sleeping bag is just a black fabric roll with a rope.
Doug, here in Paris I found a DID Gimli at 15€ ! I was pissed when I bought mine 2 weeks earlier at 30€ in the same store.

By the way I probably found the perfect fabric to create his specific chainmail, just have to do some test before.

....and my Fellowship :

Very nice Gimli. Weathering on all of them is top notch.:clap

That group shot looks great!!!!

And F U SIDESHOW!!!!

Buttholes :pfft:

Nope, the brothers are not in my collection.
Faramir because he's not a member of the Fellowship.
Boromir because the headsculpt is horrible, but I will get him, that's for sure.

Thank you !!
As I said, I found the perfect fabric for the Gimli's chainmail !!!
I made a test to dye it in silver and it works !!!
