I enjoyed seeing familiar Tatooine shots from ANH. I don't usually enjoy that. Look, there's the ledge Old Ben and Luke stood on, Look there's the same walkway, Look the cantina entrance....

I suppose this episode pays off later with that girl not being dead. But beyond the homages there wasn't much to it.

Finally joined Dis+ on cyber Monday with the $59.99/year special deal. I binge watched the 1st 5 episodes last night. Was hard staying away from all the articles and talk about the show. But other than baby Yoda nothing was spoiled.

I must say i really enjoyed it. Shame IG-11 was done so quick and was only in the one episode. They should've had the Mando keep him and reprogram him like K2 and have him as his side kick. The 1st 3 episodes were great, but I felt it slowed down a bit in 4 and 5. Still love the show, but to me definitely feels like a TV show over a movie production quality like Disney claimed it would be. The CGI is certainly lower quality than a movie. Guess the MCU show's will follow suit and really won't be anything mind blowing.

But I am definitely a fan and will continue to look forward to watching and see what Favreau and Filoni come up with.... Nice to have a little enthusiasm for something Star Wars, but I still won't be seeing EPIX.

Yeah, it remind me of other limited TV runs (off the top of my head Werewolf, the 1980s TV series because I've recently revisited it on youtube). The first two or three episodes set up the character and a start for the series, then it moves into 'hero befriends and helps stranger of the week while trying to stay one step ahead of/catch up to the big bad'

Xipo you know when it comes to SW I annoyingly retain super levels of optimism but there is nothing wrong with a palette cleanser of simple nostalgia post Rose, Holdo and Canto Blight.

I?m finding the unity coming from Mando Tatooine quite appealing and refreshing.

Yeah, Mando is the palette cleanser for the ST the same way TFA was the palette cleanser for the PT. It's OT comfort food. It's needed in times of crisis. Jawas, sandcrawlers, Mos Eisley, cantina - all used in fun ways or just as "here it is and let's move on."

TFA was a re-tread of the OT (story, visuals) and you could understand what was happening after a PT that didn't make any sense and lacked OT eye candy - just as Mando is a throwback (and importantly, respectful homage) to everything that was fun and epic about the world of the OT after a ST that went off the rails with disrespect, toxicity and subversion.

In some ways I wish I couldn't follow what was happening in the ST the same way I couldn't follow the PT.:lol

Yeah, that's my feeling too - it's a nice warm fuzzies show to me, even if it's not blazing any hugely compelling narrative trail. It's an "immersion into SW world" experience to me. The reality of what it would be like to go to the cantina on a normal business day etc.:lol

You boys wishing for an expansive narrative better be careful what you wish for because the only way forward is attachment to the ST.

How fast do you want to get there lol

The ST certainly does present problems. You could pretend the galaxy is big enough to ignore the likes of Rey, Snoke, and Rose but Disney probably wouldn't. At least not until KK and the story group are out of there.

I hope next episode he walks back into the cantina and takes another contained bounty job while baby yoda sleeps the end lol

I?m glad Favreau could possibly be
putting the myth of Fett and the outcome of the pit from ROTJ finally to rest with the possible appearance of Boba
by the ending of EP 5

With all do respect to the character, am I the only one who wishes they would give Baby Yoda a name

That’s not Yoda, We keep calling it Baby Yoda, including the media

Yoda came back in TLJ which is the future of this timeline

This Is not Yoda . Favreau needs to hurry up and give this species a name , let alone give this character a proper name :slap

Baby Yoda? No biggie. He?s also referred to as The Child.

Nah, not for me, not yet. There's something appealing about this Outer Rim culture where the legendary Skywalkers and Jedi are so far off the radar that Mando didn't compute what baby did.

I can wait to season 2 or 3 for Mando to run into the wise old shaman or monk who explains it all. Too bad it wont be Chirrut Inwe. We may not learn name and species for a while. The child may not have a name if he's an orphan.

Episode 2: "Oh this episode was way too nostalgic, if this continues I am OUT."

Episode 4: "Oh this episode was way too nostalgic, if this continues I am OUT."

Episode 5: "Oh this episode was way too nostalgic, if this continues I am OUT."

Why is it that those who claim to hate repetition tend to be its biggest practitioners? ;)
