If the chapters Chow directed are any indication then Obi-Wan should be very good. I hope they don’t use the multiple director model on that series too.

I believe the series is just her directing.......I enjoyed her take on the two stories she directed of Mando so hopes are high they won't ruin it.

Yep, that's what I heard as well. Only her directing that one.

Seems The Mandalorian was a testing ground for new Disney+ directors. In fact one of them said it felt like "director boot camp" in one of their interviews, as they were often on set together at the start or at some point.

Really like this show and this episode was great. I can't wait for the next episode though. Mando getting his team together was expected and fun to watch. UgNolte is fun to watch and such a layered character. I really hope against hope to see more of him.

As much as I like Ugnolte I think him actually being killed protecting the child would add some weight and get us thinking that almost any character we care about could actually die. Possibilities like that in a show add some real tension and unpredictability to a series.

Agreed. Since watching the episode yesterday, I've been thinking about if Kuiil is really dead (which is what I thought right then) or just unconscious. I hope he's just knocked out - but yeah, it sure would raise the stakes if he is indeed dead.

I definitely need to watch the episode again today - so much awesomeness:

- Scout Troopers/Speeeder bikes
- Tie-Fighter
- Death Troopers
- Force choke :lol

:rock

Yeah. IMO would really set series apart re SW - of course there have been deaths but Kalil was *unexpected* least for me.

Except I REALLY like the character and then there was Finn recovering from a blow that should have killed him. Mixed feelings. Powerful image tho.:(

TBH don't know what to think.

That whole twist at the end is going to make for a more interesting second season too I think. It was fine seeing Mando be the child’s protector for a while but now I want to see it go in a different direction. Not just episode after episode of “keep the child safe, keep the child hidden”.

It's only now I think he *may* have survived, but as much as I like the character, I hope not for the sake of a more tense and weighty narrative.

I don't get that "..for three of your lifetimes..." line given that the Empire wasn't around for that long.

So now there would be the urgency of "find the child before he gets fed to someone awful" ...

Having watched TROS makes me appreciate The Mandalorian even more. It feels like the real deal, as opposed to the Robot Chicken style spoof that the ST turned out to be.

May he have many more seasons.

I really like his character too(obviously) but I agree it's important to have stakes, consequences, and unpredictability in an action adventure show. Game of Thrones often did this very well. If Kuiil is gone it's sad but a brave sacrifice only makes me like him as a character even more.

I will see this Chicken Spoof:lol tomorrow...tho apparently TROS isn't the "300" one might hope for. Where is Artemisia when u need her.:monkey3

Currently am unspoiled - but figured yah know TROS *family friendly*. Little tykes with their rubber light sabers etc. Not like Mandalorian couldn't use some bloodstains too. But he does blast a stormtrooper who's already down Episode 3 - I cheered.:monkey3
This is the way.

I'm hoping Mando does some serious ^ss-whooping over the loss (or wounding) of a friend and Child. Cara has a thing for Empire anyway. They should take more heads.

Maybe. I'd target the doctor and twist his arms for info. Then take baby, burn everything to ground like Conan, and finally race to Luke or other - there was mention of "mid Rim" so assume there is more to galaxy. Pursued by Stormtroopers and everyone else. It'll be epic.:arr

On a side note, Carl Weathers is supposed to direct a Season 2 episode.

I couldn’t guess either way on his survival. It could definitely go either way based on how they left it. And for some reason when he said that line I just assumed he was in some different kinds of indentured servitude situations including the Empire most of his life. Not just the Empire because, you’re right, they hadn’t been around that long.

Good example and I agree.
