Most TV shows have 20+ episodes, so even though each season starts in September they usually don't end until March/April so it's really only 5-6 months wait for the next season... Although they do streatch those seasons out sometimes going a whole month between episodes...

You would think with only around 10 episodes they could easily finish the second season of Mandalorian around June, although I will say production values on this are pretty high for a TV Show so I guess that does take time to get all those special effects in the show...

That, and phased global Disney+ rollout. U.S. Disney+ had glitches. They want international community to stick around after free trial, not cancel in disgust. Plus suppose dubbing has to be done too.

One by one, Disney will rule all...:ring

AND they got people hooked for up to three years... Disney needs to spread out its content.

They already had me anyway with MCU series. Now Mando. *&^%#@

With Amazon's LOTR prequel coming up, it's the Two Towers redux since I watch Disney+ thru Amazon Prime.:lol:orthanc

Unpopular opinion: I like that there's only 8 thirty minute episodes. Keeps the filler down, and even then, there was some filler this season. Not everything needs a 42 minute episode 22 times a year...that just leads to lazy writing and bottle episodes.

All killer; no filler!!

I mean, the 22 episode format, wasn't that basically old tv? On most streaming services, shorter seasons seem to be the norm. Ranging anywhere from 6-13 episodes.

So was the Razor Crest in Lando's fleet?

That's like a Where's Wally/Waldo challenge...

So far when I think about one day owning the uber disk collection with commentary and extended scenes:monkey3 I feel SATISFACTION.

Coz Favearau is doing what the MCU frequently did not do - give characters time. Spaghetti westerns often didn't give u much either.

So a picture is painted of who this guy is, values, skill set. And it's not done in any forced way or some Disney exec down the road "hey, let's do baby Mando prequel! eeuw:pfft:" Or IMO the latest film writing tactic - "it's this way 'coz we tell u things are this way, even tho inherent logic sez otherwise. Coz we know what u really want is lots of explosions, power bursts, and glowy eyes. Plus, yah know, we don't have to hire experienced writers; we can get indy writers on the cheap."

Like Disney backtracking right now and hey, let's have BW go back to her roots; too bad if Bucky and Cap didn't exchange more than a sentence and we'll just ignore Nat/Bruce or Loki. Then they're like "oh, look at this set of fans complaining! They want a conversation! we can milk that into a series...."

Appreciate folks that have different wants, but personally had enough of movies where nobody draws a breath and superhero landings. IMO it gets like eating cotton candy - lots of fun but nothing stays with u. Anyway think series could benefit from 10 episodes and 10 minutes longer, but not at price of quality. In the sense that watching a dragon fly a grid pattern over a town torching stuff dragged on and on (GOT) e.g.
if ur story hits a wall, give it a rest. Don't film a lot of murky smoke just to fill up the time.:pfft:

Can you imagine if the series finale shows the full space battle against Palpatine's Final Order from Old Man Mando's point of view. :thud:

With a 75 year-old grumpy 'Teenage' Yoda who's more interested in his game console than the battle. :lol

TBH dunno. Can also imagine myself cringing at forced crossovers. Srsly not to rain on anyone. I dunno. In retrospect ANH is always gonna be my fav Star Wars, and was idly thinking about why yesterday. What popped into my head was there was a kinda purity about the story (don't know how else to put it).

IMO Mando has the same kind've "clean" story and distinct characters. It's not that I can't appreciate GOT, LOTR, etc. But sprawling epics are another kind've thing.

Tho suspect when Mando winds up there'll be a huge blowout battle. Hopefully not for a while tho.

One thing ANH has is a sense of wide open space and great, unexplored temporal depth .. the galaxy felt vast, old and lived in. There was nothing forced about the mystery, it was inherent to the setting. Many things were easy to accept in a setting like that.

ESB felt more like vintage science fiction with its gleaming Cloud City and hints at a larger galactic civilization.

Those qualities shining through the films are why I still talk about them as a grown man. ROTJ certainly has its moments as a conclusion to the story, but hasn't had any kind of a hold on me since childhood.

Rogue One is a note-for-note extension of the ANH aesthetic and brought with it some compelling scenes and set-pieces ... Vader in his castle, the space battle above Scarif, Death Troopers stalking up towards the Erso homestead with Krennic, but veers just a touch too far into darkness to have the same emotional beats as ANH and ESB, nonetheless I love it as its own thing.

The Mandalorian has so far aligned for me most closely with ANH and that empty simplicity with its long, quiet moments. It really feels like something I would have imagined as a kid after watching the films. I'm critical of its shortcomings but as a whole the series has banked a lot of goodwill with me so far.
