The Mandalorian takes place 9 years after the Battle of Yavin.

The co-ordinates he's given to locate Baby Yoda are 50 years old, the age Baby Yoda is also said to be.

41 BBY was also the year Anakin was conceived.

What an epic episode!!! That's how to do it! Had everything; story, character, emotion, humor - executed perfectly. And even though it's open-ended for season 2, still a very satisfying ending.

Loved 1-3 & 7-8. Editing these together as a single movie would be insane! The other eps were okay, but more than happy to watch the story without revisiting 4-6.

Favreau and Filoni really need to be at the helm of SW movie forward.

The Darksaber! Things just got even more interesting!

Love the Founder child on the speeder bike giggling!

Spectacular but filled to the brim with some inconsistencies.

IG gets taken out with one simple shot to the head by Mando in 1.

In this episode IG is unstoppable taking multiple hits while single handily taking out the entire legion but then a short time later coming out of the lava lake Mando tells IG you don?t have enough weapons to take out a handful of troopers who can?t even shoot straight so he self destructs....wut.

I think it?s time to end the long standing stormtrooper shooting joke and this really should be the culmination of it and yes it was very funny with the scout trooper?s but enough is enough we get it because in one second the stormtroopers are completely incompetent and the next second they?re super deadly and need to be feared, pick one.

Cara needed to be a little tougher in this.

OK now that I got that out-of-the-way holy crap did I enjoy watching stormtroopers get brutally mutilated in this episode with the Equilibrium and John Wick homages and hands-down that is the best speeder bike and tie fighter flying sequence I have ever seen AND is no one going to bring up the end!

I think her toughness coincides with certain cycles.

IG was expecting resistance from stormtroopers. Not necessarily from a bounty hunter he allied with.

If Abrams answered, it would be yes AND no!!!

Excellent episode. Excellent season. Excellent series. Easily the best of 2019.

When he flies up and is hanging on the TIE Fighter and blows one of the wings off......I used to do **** like that with my action figures as a kid. That's why I love this show. It's just like me playing with my toys in 1983 but in awesome live action.

Also....how funny was the banter between the bored Biker Scouts??

That biker scout dialogue scene was Tarantino levels of high quality goodness made even better because of them being scout troopers.

Baby yoda truly is a thing of perfection.

The Mando vs Tie Fighter was indeed action figure playing levels of incredible.

I've noticed this before, but...

...that Lil Womp Rat is *tough*. He can take a beating.

I'm really hoping for Scouts and Bikes by HT. Instant buy.

I also think ...

... the Mudhorn sigil is badass. I need a season finale Mando with Asset.

Hopefully this show is a blue print for things to come........simple, exciting and characters I've enjoyed following....it isn't that complicated. A+ for Mr. Fav.....

I was watching with that in mind. But then Chapter four becomes a vital part of The Mandalorian's relationship with The Child, explaining why he believes he's safer with him in spite of the dangerous life he leads.

Then if you skip Five and Six he's straight back to Cara without time actually passing. It felt like something was missing, which it seems is why he has those extra adventures. They also show the continuing development of his relationship with The Child.

You nailed it. In my opinion Star Wars works best when it's simple and exciting. A mysterious backstory is one thing, but when you need complicated fan theories to hold up a story...that story has failed as Star Wars media.

Example of mystery done well:

Former Rebellion Shocktrooper Cara Dune has a checkered past. We don't quite know how she wound up with a price on her head. :rock

Well, you're forgetting that this time the troopers had the higher ground. :wink1:

I think Baby Yoda may have been messing with their target practice shots. He was unseen inside the trooper's bag the entire time, which leaves open the possibility.
But regardless, I agree the joke has been played out.

This series was fun without the bad aftertaste of completely undoing itself (so glad no meteor sized errors in writing)! I look forward to season two!

The Darksaber! Things just got even more interesting!

So the Darksaber appears in both Clone Wars and Rebels. Favreau's no dummy - he just gave the uninitiated (like myself) a reason to check out those shows, which will go some way toward slaking our SW thirst until season 2 arrives. :lol[/I]

This series was definitely the way! :D

Now I have all the episodes it's time to watch it again and see how it plays as a five hour movie.

LOL did that yesterday but I'll do it again this weekend. Been a while since I cared enough to lose sleep:cool:. No regrets don't think I blinked
through all of episode 8.
Have huge respect for Taika Waititi just based on Ragnarok e.g. a director who seems to bring all the details I appreciate (in this case irate
Jawa for one LOL), humor, action, emotional moments (LOL "let's have baby do the hand wavy thing" and when baby was giggling as
IG took out Stormtroopers). Didn't flinch from some hard stuff too like baby's fireball:horror. Pascal IMO perfection:clap - so much comes thru voice
and whole cast has chemistry:clap. The helmet thing didn't think they'd go there and some other moments :panic:

Plus don't usually do villains but if HT does Moff, Esposito is IMO nailing it. Oozes intelligence, ruthlessness, presence.:love I'll be picking the fig up for sure.

Overall am grateful to Favreau/Filoni, cast and crew; been a while since I felt so satisfied with a movie/series with more to look forward to.
Carefully introduced characters, skills, world building. For me it's like the first time I saw ANH, IM, Captain America 1 and some GOT stuff - just content and satisfied. If this had been in theater it'd be something I'd applaud at the end and walk out looking to purchase tickets for a re-watch. Man, Favreau and Filoni just set a high bar IMO the MCU series next year and other SW series need to be working overtime:bounce:bounce:bounce
