The dead speak...

Pretty accurate and fair assessment.

At least that horrible opening crawl will be good for a lot of laughs going forward:lol

Awesome. I love that there were western themes to this, and I wouldn't be surprised if it were influenced by the Man with No Name.

I thought that movie was pretty damn mediocre, just in the sense that there was too damn much going on, and it gave me a headache just trying to process everything. Not my idea of a good time. I felt the ending was serviceable, all things considered. But not particularly good. Mando sets up a season 2 obviously, and was pretty effective at it. But I wouldn't be upset if this were one and done before Disney gets a chance to turn it bad. Given the hype over Yoda, it will probably be Baby Yoda: The Series, with special guest co-star Mandolorian.

LOL know I'm not being over dis-pleased with IW and EG :crying when idly I think "well, at least I had Mando Season 1. And there's always Amazon's LOTR prequel". (Tho Infinity Wars had a *&^%$ arc with multiple players thank gawd.)

Mostly for me the ST is irritating as IMO started off pretty well re character introductions onto the playing board. Finn, for me, especially, as the idea of a nameless lowly Stormtrooper saying *&^% it was intriguing. All through Star Wars movies far as I recall, no-one ever paid attention to who they were under the helmets. Frustratingly TROS dumps potential rich character arcs:( - whether it was to crowd please or 'coz JJ is JJ, and the Michael Bay-esque treatment is his thing - and IMO ends up wasting a lot of potential. At least, I felt nothing watching TROS except mild interest at the spectacle (vs. Mando Episode 3, for instance:horror).

Gonna be cautiously optimistic tho that Favreau and Filoni know better than to over-use Baby. And, wisely IMO, so far they didn't. Wouldn't make any sense anyway assuming this is a toddler who doesn't always comprehend danger, over-exhausts himself with the Force, etc. I'm more intrigued by Mando's hero journey arc anyway, which F&F are carefully constructing (as well as laying out his character and skill set). Having to challenge his own value system (which could've gone someplace with Finn and the DJ thing in TROS, but - nope:pfft:). BEING a character willing to take a challenge to his value system.

At some point assume Mando will have to deal with a Jedi (whichever might be left).

Most comforting for me (possibly) is just listening to Filoni and Favreau talk in interviews. They're comfortable, seem happy, and most of all Favreau has alluded to having an entire arc in mind. E.g. the bones of a story are already there, including, I suspect, a planned ending. They don't talk like people flailing around not sure what direction they want to go. Both have been through the hype rodeo before, so hope they are smart enough to ignore it and just tell the story.

It never occurred to me though that Ugnaughts could speak 'Basic' (English). All you actually hear from them in ESB is their pig noises. Although you do see some walking the corridors of Cloud City who appear to be conversing.

Nolte was probably one of the squawking little pricks playing keep away from Chewbacca with 3PO's head, lol.

I hate that he is gone but love that the show will do things like this. Such a great Star Wars universe character!

Yeah I would have bet good money his little team would come together in Season 2 at some point again. Especially after all the time introducing the characters. Kuiil would have made the perfect Techie on the team.

I guess the chances of a Hot Toys Kuiil are also next to nothing now too :-(

I would still definitely buy that figure if Hot Toys put that out.

Even though he's dead, I still think he would sell really well. After Baby Yoda and the Mando himself maybe. I'd say he'd be next on the list of popularity and meme's.

From an optimistic viewpoint you could argue Hot Toys should release him now and do the other figures for Season 2 later on.........but of course they won't.

His death was the most I felt for any character since RO.

For me it'd go back to the OT.

Yeah, he does seem a bit more refined design-wise too. The Ugnaughts in ESB were a bit more ill-defined, with quite a bit of variation in their look vs say Greedo entities who all seem pretty similar.

And I guess he worked with the Empire so maybe he had to learn to speak English, but yeah his voice doesn't have any of the shrill pig-like tone of the ESB Uggies (which almost in a way sound like Jawas.)

Imagine if someone told you ten years ago that a Star Wars sequel trilogy would eventually be made but the death of an ugnaught would be more powerful and crushing than the deaths of Luke, Han, and Leia.

...Also what is the expiration of force sacrifice your life for someone else(who knows :lol)? Perhaps Rey could be tricked into visiting the grave of Kuiil.

I would agree with you had the ST had stopped at TLJ but one thing I think that TROS got right were the death of Leia and resolution of Han.

That being said absolutely I was really moved by the Ug death.

Just a curious thought....what if instead of the Mandalorian, the main character was Boba Fett, same stories, etc. Do you guys think that would have worked?

Not for me. I wouldn't want to think of Boba Fett as a guy with a heart of gold who would repeatedly put his life at risk for the sake of the baby Yoda. I like Boba as more of a villain mercenary, and preferably as mysterious as can be.

Had to read why Boba is a thing, or became a thing. And that's just Reddit stuff and comments on the board. At least, for me a series about Boba wouldn't have been that interesting, unless I go read every comic etc. Even the comic descriptions make him seem a tad OP. Which clashes with the film depiction. Either way doesn't strike me as a character who'd have a conscience or even a code. Or being kind of a guy that just does what needs to get done. Also, I like these series giving nods to the films but doing something different with new characters.

As an aside, been wondering if the mysterious boots that show up in Episode 5 are actually Luke Skywalker's or some other Jedi; no reason one or the other wouldn't be on Tattooine. Only 9-11 months to go to find out. Maybe.:monkey5:crying

When I play this orchestra mix I forget about all the money this series is costing me in collectibles I didn't know I needed 2 months ago.:monkey3

But my carbonized Mando will look awesome on the Dewback I just ordered, and I can pull the head off the included Stormtrooper and stick it on a skewer, so *&^% it. I need more heads tho.

I'd put the odds at about a 65% chance that those boots are going to be Boba Fett. That was the episode that Dave Filoni wrote, and he doesn't seem to be the type who would pull a bait-and-switch on hardcore fans. He's much more likely to provide the fan service payoff.

Filoni wouldn't use an obvious cue like the distinctive clattering spurs sound, knowing that every hardcore fan is going to make the association specifically to Boba Fett, and then not pay it off after the long wait and anticipation. So I think the safe money is on a Boba Fett reveal setup, especially with Favreau's OT fan roots.

And I'm finding myself getting more and more eager for a Mando/Boba dynamic with Boba being his main antagonist. I'd prefer a long-running arc, but whatever it'd be would have my full attention.
