Very true. And please don't get me wrong: I'm looking forward to a traditional and expansive version of SW storytelling since that's what I'm a big fan of (I'm as hyped for Thrawn as anyone). But I do get where someone like Sassafras is coming from. If someone was enjoying the limited and more personal scope of the loner gunslinger with a baby to deliver to safety, then getting full-blown live-action Rebels now would be a letdown.

You're right that there's no way to know for sure what the long-range plans were, but it's not like Favreau didn't go on record several times in 2019 describing how isolated the show would be from other SW storylines. Making this more of a Rebels sequel going forward wouldn't exactly jibe with that premise, imo.

It's obvious that Boba Fett was set up in Season 1. It's also obvious that the darksaber was set up in Season 1. But those elements are still directly associated with Mandalorians. There's a clear connective tissue there to Din and his origin story. But now, I think we can expect Ezra and other Jedi-related branches to the story.

I remember a discussion here (probably this very thread) prior to the debut of the first episode of the show. I wondered whether a series about a bounty hunter, without the Force and Jedi involved, would still feel like SW. The responses I got were that it was going to be refreshing to focus exclusively on scum and villainy while giving a rest to the Force and the Jedi. :lol

Well, aside from Favreau's comments on "new characters" etc. if you tell me this show is set in the Outer Rim, based on Western serials and samurai films, I'm gonna think more along the lines of the old Kung Fu series, or Rogue One...

And for a while, it was so. Even Kuiil describes the Child's abilities as "something he had heard of".

I had no doubt that the road would lead to Luke. EVENTUALLY. Not, necessarily that the Child is even left with him. Maybe by that time Grogu would have made the decision he doesn't wanna be a Jedi - since Filoni opened that door. You don't HAVE to be a Jedi just because you can wield the Force.

I sure didn't think Ahsoka would show up at all, since in theory she was BUSY elsewhere. To me this feels like Disney called a meeting, KK's eyes blazing red with greed and potential license deals:devil, and said "how about this?" All of a sudden it's not serial Western samurai grittiness with quirky offbeat characters, it's kid friendly heir-to-the-throne (because everyone loves kings and princes and all that) and too-good-to-be-real Ahsoka Tano.

And I'll guess the real truth will never be known, tho to me the direction change smells of overstuffed commercializing, not serving the original narrative. And suspect Favreau is an old hand at the film/TV financing game e.g. you give to get. And as Gallery 2 said, the Volume is even bigger now.

As said previously I'm hoping any Rebels related stuff is told primarily in the Ahsoka show, but if there is an overarching narrative that leads to a crossover "event" or two I'm OK with that provided it doesn't replace Din's main story. IMO most people knew the show's story had to expand beyond the Mando & Baby Yoda Show in order to sustain itself. I mean, once he's tasked with returning Grogu to the Jedi it was pretty obvious (as Khev indicated) that the road eventually led to Luke, and I also think if Mando took much longer completing the task we would quickly lose patience and start joking about his competence. We're not exactly a forgiving bunch, we SW fans. :lol

As this is called The Mandalorian, now with that task complete his becoming embroiled in the fate of his adopted home world & coming to terms with his upbringing/beliefs seems like a natural next step. Hopefully he eventually gets to reunite with Grogu and gets to go shack up with the widow from Season 1, but in the meantime I say let him go play hide the Darksaber with Bo-Katan and Koska Reeves. :lol

Personally I wouldn't have assumed his road led necessarily led directly to Luke...but again, that was something notable enough I would have though it would be at the END of the series. For me it still feels...I dunno...rushed and awkward.

I can only hope Favreau - and whoever else - at this point can develop something compelling, besides the probably now-inevitable splash panel big battle with EVERYONE showing up...:monkey3

So, OK, if Favreau is gonna go big, so if I roll with it, I wanna a "poignant scene" where King Din, desperate for some personal time, crash lands on Jakku and meets sad little Rey, and he cheers her up by telling her he doesn't have parents either, and buys these special desert rocks off her.

Inspired by the courageous little nobody, Din D'jarin keeps the 3 weird rocks to give to Grogu, except they react to the Darksaber and hatch into mythosaurs. If they are going to stuff the Mandalorian like a Thanksgiving turkey, I want mythosaurs, d#mmit. AND Qui-Gon.:stormtroo

You think KK had even *heard* of Ahsoka Tano before Filoni wrote her into this season's script? Get real, lol. She probably still hasn't.

:lol:lol:lol
Point taken. Although, if Filoni does a quick sketch with crayons, and explains several times that yes, Ahsoka is a Force-wielding FEMALE, KK might take an interest in something besides the latest tweet from Rian Johnson.:monkey3

Very true, lol.

I just don't see Miss "We don't have any novels or comics to pull ideas from" as suddenly being an expert on *anything* Star Wars related outside of a passing knowledge of the original films.

Holy *&^% that was scary:horror. Like when I couldn't figure out why DC had gone so far off the tracks and then started reading about who was in charge.

At least, if nothing else, I'm confident that Favreau and Filoni, plus an entire crew of some amazing talent, have a real love for what they're doing. If only they had put more into that Mando/Child separation scene. I mean, I just sat there, completely unmoved. My watery eyes were just because of the dry winter air.:monkey3:cool:

I'm really worried about RR coming on as executive producer on Boba Fett I really don't have great faith in the guy and while I thought his episode was good enough i'm worried about his obsession with making things on the cheap above all else and it shows just look at his track record yikes.

Yes he talked up a good game in Gallery on what makes Fett tick but then he turns around and says that Fett's return was dependent on choreography created by his young kids.

I don't know I could be wrong but look at his current movie on Netflix yikes lol

I have Curly hair so the look of that is Afro or short. :lol

Like you its been t-shirts and boot fit jeans (though I mostly wear sneakers0.. Do not like the tight ankle look either.. but I am old I am not supposed to like what the kids are wearing :lol

This.....

I did wear a suit to a wedding last year that was the newer blue thin material with tapered leg and leather brown shoes.....

Got so many compliments it was crazy.

But I did not feel that comfortable in the new style at first.

:lol

I interpreted that as he used them as stand-ins to walk through the scenes he'd imagined. So they were part of creating the scenes but they didn't dream them up for him. At least I sure hope that's the way it went down. :horror

I'm certain the stunt and fight choreography people stepped in said ok give us your back yard blueprint we'll take it from there lol

I know RR is known for being a one man show who can put out content at super low budgets from his home studio good for him very impressive but holy crap I have yet to see any good movie from him like ever.

I didn't even finish Battle Angel Alita.

Now out of nowhere he is in charge of Boba Fett WUT!

Rob Zombie must be pissed

The Mando Rejects

He is half and half for me.

I really enjoyed Desperado
I love Sin City and thought the sequel good enough
Big fan of From Dusk Till Dawn
Really enjoyed Alita

Hate Once Upon a Time in Mexico
Did not like Planet Terror
Did not watch any of the spy kids or Shark boy and Lava girl films
El Mariachi was a one and done

I think he will be fine. He has shown with Alita that he can go big and his Mando episode was good enough.

My mistake I like the original From Dusk movie but I thought QT was the director I was wrong he wrote the screenplay and RR directed.

Ok fine ONE movie he did I like but that was 24 years ago lol

Desperado I saw once and I don't remember it anymore and unfortunately I won't ever get around to watching it again.

I didn't realize that was all him. Been many years since I've seen Desperado -- I have a vague memory of liking it. Sin City and From Dusk Till Dawn were enjoyable romps, Alita ... was visually kinda interesting but the story didn't excite me.

I think he'll do all right with The LiveJournal of Boba Fett.

I'm all in for RR Boba Fett. From Dusk Till Dawn and Alita show me that he can make a polished looking film with a budget when he wants. But even if we get more "home movie RR" I'll still take that over a polished Peyton Reed joint where Fett gets embarrassed by random girls. I fully expect Fett to be a true badass in the upcoming series.

So the actress who plays the armorer is named Emily Swallow.

Umm I wonder what those high school years were like lol

To be fair, was bested by the far superior warrior Koska Reeves, no shame in that had he just kept his mouth shut and shown his betters the respect they were due. :lecture
