The Unreal Engine 5 demo is actually pretty groundbreaking for anyone who follows tech or video games. The engine itself is free to use and Epic's done a lot over the years to democratize AAA game dev and CGI tools for amateurs and pros alike. If it inspires a big developer to take on the Matrix IP, could make for a great game. I can understand why they'd use the new film to cross-promote it.

Having all that said, the movie portion of the presentation was weak as heck.

And here is Keanu talking about **** lol

He just came alive when they got to that topic. :lol It's fun to see him so fascinated with something he's not being paid to promote.

EDIT: Watching the whole interview, it's actually eerie. On one hand, it's cool to see Keanu so excited and I share some of that excitement as well. But on the other, I can relate to Carrie-Ann's apprehension. We may be gaining something with this technology (VR, metaverse, using dead celebrities' digital avatars), but we're also losing a lot. And the people spearheading these movements don't seem totally aware of that trade-off.

The Unreal Engine stuff is extremely cool and opens up some creative doors without any existential downside. :lol I'm particularly stoked about the idea of using film assets for games and vice-versa. They're all made in the same programs anyway, the only differences are the resolutions and engines in which they're rendered. Could make for some very sweet tie-ins, not to mention the next generation of games will feel like a proper leap (last one was a bit underwhelming IMO).

This is honestly really impressive, it's like the most realistic computer game ever, the detail and effects are mindblowing to have this rendered in real time. Where it falls down is in the animation and motion of the characters, like when they are talking. Apart from that it looks like reality, maybe the PlayStation 12 will be able to render at this frame rate and resolution

The actual gameplay component was horrible but the graphics are good.

The AI people in the city though are somewhat stiff and just repeat the same movements and they also clip into each other.

I was hoping I could follow one into an alley and kill them or push them into oncoming cars but nope.
