The 'My office is being closed down' thread

Well, after surviving a major layouff, and two corporate buy-outs, my office is being shut down for good mid 2011.....job is only secure if willing to relocate....I did that last time - came 1400 miles away, so its all about the severance package now

This has happened to soo many people, but it is not a good feeling....YIKES.....

My collection buying for rest of this year and next just got crazy reduced!!!!!

Thanks, guys. Yeah, came from Ca, ended up in TX - been here 7 years, so it was a long run.

Naw, gonna take the severance and run........

Good news: I have 8 months or so to figure out a new gameplan, so if it had to happen, its about as ideal as you could hope for....trying to keep it positive

My company just got bought by a larger company. 200 overlapping jobs will be cut on my companies side. I look safe thank the Lord, but still....200 jobs down the tubes sometime next year.

AmanaMatt, sorry to hear the bad news. Something similar happened to my mom last year. 16 years and the plant closed. She got a good package and is going back to school for nursing.

Hope the best for you. Times are tough but, sounds like you have a good attitude and a plan. Good luck.

Sucks man but it sounds like you are in a good situation. Being willing to move and on severence is a great way to find a job.
