Been on Ebay since March 98 and looking at my history, I've left 6,765 feedback ratings. Of those 6,765 transactions, I've only recall getting screwed on about 3 of them, so I love ebay.

But as a rule, if I'm buying something, if it's more than say $50 I always use PayPay with a credit card. Just in case.

That sucks! Sorry you got scammed. I suppose if I saw an ED-209 going for less than $400 and the seller had 0 feedback, I would be very suspicious.

This is the problem with eBay. That's why you always need to buy from the known & trusted sellers. I feel for you though, I've had so many mates scammened now from buying concert tickets to jewellery & eBay/Paypal never seem to give a ____.

that sucks man, sorry for your loss. why don't you try to file an "item not as described" claim? Since ebay won't help you because the tracking number states that it has been delievered, then might as well try to claim that what you received is not described and send a blank envelope back with tracking back to the seller to get your money back.

I don't want to promote scamming or dishonesty, but since you got scammed out of $250, might as well try all your options to get that money back.

Ebay owns Paypal, together they charge massive fees and don't give a rat's ass about the customers. Now Paypal has to report to the IRS (starting in 2011) as well which is another reason not to buy or sell on ebay. Always check feedback.. My rule of thumb is the seller must have 10 positive seller feedbacks for every $100 I spend so 100 positive if I spend $1000 ect and it has worked for 99% of the time. Never buy from a 0 feedback seller OR a seller who only sells $1 items then attempts to sell you a pricey valuable.

ALSO CONTACT YOUR CREDIT CARD COMPANY and initiate a chargeback NOW, they can recover the funds even if Paypal won't!

My feedback rating is much lower than this, but I've bought and sold hundreds of times and also have not been screwed over much. I feel a high level of confidence when I buy, but I take certain precautions. If I saw a HT P2 Elder figure or a Doom PF for $150 from a seller with 0 feedback, no way in hell I would buy it. You're just asking for trouble there.

But we all make mistakes. Live and learn. I pre-ordered and paid for the first 2 HT Jokers from a place that seemed legit, but after 2-3 months and nothing, the company went bankrupt and I was SOL. That was several years ago and I just wasn't familiar with Paypal, but now I just don't pay upfront for pre-orders, and no way I'm gonna go past 45 days without filing a dispute if an item hasn't been delivered. Lesson learned. I also do like EF and use a credit card through Paypal for anything over $200-300.

Thats is a terrible thing, there are so many stories like this. I think the #1 rule is deal with someone realiable and trustworthy with a history. Someone you know will resolve issues for you directly if there is a problem. If you are going to rely solely on ebay and pp to resolve things when there is an issue, it can be a problem because thier real interest is to make as much money as they can and not necessarily taking care of thier customers.

If sellers and buyers don't screw you over eBay will with their jacked up final value fees plus they high jack your shipping and take final value fees from that profit. eBay sucks to sell on. Good for a buyer market but sucky for sellers indeed.

I'm in a situation like this at the moment with a power-seller here at SSF. The item was taking an unusually long time to arrive so I emailed him to see what the story was. He seemed to have a plausible reason for the delay but I paid on the 1st of September, the item still hasn't arrived and I can't help but be aware of the 45 day paypal dispute deadline.

What do you do? File the dispute and then contact the seller or contact the seller one last time and then file the dispute if he doesn't respond well or at all?

i don't know why so many people on here have trouble with ebay. you guys must pick out the worst sellers imaginable and bid on their stuff. why would you buy from somebody with 0 feedback regardless if you feel protected by paypal or not? it's just not smart. i've been using ebay since 98/99 and have never had a bad experience in almost 15 years of buying/selling. read people's feedback. that's why it's there. you'll be surprised what you find.

I definitely agree with you about monitoring newly registered sellers and using caution, but that will only get you so far.

I got scammed by a 7-year Ebay member, 1,500 feedbacks, and a 100% rating. One day, he decided to list a bunch of stuff and ran with the money. I got all of my money back. Sure. But....lesson learned. Feedback doesn't mean what it used to (or what I thought it did.)

One i thing i dont get is that when i sell something paypal has the buyers address listed right there, if this bloke did send it to an address that isnt the one there, then you got him.

Some people get their accounts stolen, others actually SELL their accounts. I was kind of surprised that I found out that their is a market for matured ebay accounts. Some can go for several hundred dollars. That was a couple years ago so I don't know what it goes for now.

Feedback still means what it always meant IMO--evidence of past behavior in order to estimate future behavior. It isn't a guarantee, but you can get a good idea in the vast majority of cases. The difference with eBay's feedback now, though, is that the feedback doesn't last forever. Negative feedback disappears after awhile for some reason.

the thing is that ebay allows you the ship outside ebay/paypal, all you do is manually put the tracking #, there is no way to know what address the item was shipped to, just the city and zip, perfect scam , send a box of condoms to a taco bell in the same city and zip , on the usps website it will show delivered, paypal releases the funds to the seller and now no claim as it show the item was delivered to your city and zip-----freggin unreal-----------------:slap:slap:slap:slap:slap
