I do agree with many of your points but if they explored the backstory of the space jockey too much i think it would have a negative effect on my viewing experience of the original Alien there after.

Godfather II is the definitive textbook case of how to handle a sequel.

What are interesting issues not yet covered by any of the films that fans want to see?

A) Origins of the Aliens

B) What happened to the Space Jockey

C) What would happen if Earth was completely infested with Aliens

What characters or sets could you bring back?

A) Gateway Station ( Sulaco and Nostromo are both dead, so is LV426)

B) Charles Weyland maybe/Bishop android

C) Yutani (whomever they could make him out to be)

D) Jonesy the Cat ( oddly the only REAL survivor of the movies)

What character will most fans want to see stay gone?

A) Clone Ripley

The success of the first Alien and Predator films was you didn't see them much. There was sense of dread and isolation and helplessness.

The failure of AVP and AVPR is they weakened or limited the Predators to make it a fair fight ( or try too ) In AVP, they took their shoulder cannons and it was a proving ground for young Predators. In AVPR it was a new hybrid enemy and there was only one Predator.

The only viable way to have a true Predator/ Aliens conflict is to have the Predators be overwhelmed (i.e. a Roarkes Drift situation) and force them to adapt and overcome to hold off hoards of Aliens. I.E. Don't make the Predators weaker or limited, just make the Aliens more overwhelming.

A pure Godfather II system would work, a flash back to Aliens origin and Space Jockey and his race mixed with a current storyline of Predators being overwhelmed with no humans involved. The reason the last two movie sucked is there's not enough material to give you a two hour movie so you need to have a teenage angst love story mixed in to try to appease younger viewers.

Split the storyline, give us the backstory we want ( and we'd get a Space Jockey toy....) and give us Predators who can show some ingenuity ( and a reason to help us understand their culture and backstory too), a battle of wits. A desperate situation. A return to the sense of isolation.

If you're referencing AVP Galaxy, THOSE fans deserve to be bashed.

I have never seen more negative jerks in my ^^^^ing life over something they claim to love. The brother's didn't HAVE to post there, and as I fan I liked AVP:R, I appreciate their first attempt for what it is.

Then again, I'm not hard to please, sure I'm a fan of the franchise, but *gasp*, I can put myself in a state of disbelief long enough not to question everything I see, NOT look for holes, and think, "der, is dis scene bad er whut? ZOMG DATS NOT DE AWIENS I SAWED IN D ORIGINALSH!"

If I saw either Strause Brother, I'd give them a hug and say "thank you for giving it your best shot, sorry Fox didn't give more support."

When we actually see the "40 foot alien," or see Predators running around in tu-tu's eating fried chicken, that's when I'll be pissed off and moan about the movie. AvP:R was a decent flick, it wasn't the best, nor was it the worst.

I can accept it, and as a former member of that ^^^^ty forum, I messaged Colin a loooooooong time ago, and yeah, it took him two months to reply, but he did, and he at the LEAST thanked me for the support, and said he appreciated the comments of me enjoying it.

EDIT: Yes, I am FULLY aware they dumbed down the Aliens.

But they didn't rape the franchise, if you god honestly want to be pissed off PLEASE buy the Predator: Forever Midnight book. That is the PERFECT example of taking a well established franchise, and taking a massive steaming ^^^^ on it.

Which the change in life cycle has been explained a thousand times now. And let's not forget what movie made that change... AVP! Wolf wasn't immortal, he got wounded, and did the SAME thing the pred in P2 did, he doctored himself up.

I don't care what is or isn't 'canon,' authors should at the LEAST follow what was established in the ^^^^ing movies.

In your mind, I guess it'd be cool if Joe ********* wrote an Alien novel and made them the size of a school bus and have coca-cola blood.

Well.. see the problem with your theory is the example you're using, Godfather and Godfather II which are 2 movies with HUMAN characters that other HUMANS watching can relate to. Movies with non-human characters always humanize them. Animated flicks with bugs, or animals, etc. They talk human languages, act like humans and have human tendencies, mannerisms, emotions, etc. That way the HUMANS watching the film can still relate.

The movie you're imagining, would have none of that since The Predators and Aliens (as they've been shown so far in film) have none of those human characteristics. In other words, it'd be pretty ^^^^ing boring to sit through an hour and a half+ watching JUST them. Which is another huge flaw: The Predator and Aliens are cool because they're not front and center in the films. There's human actors to further the story, etc. You get brief glimpses and then a reveal. That's what the AVP movies did wrong. Predator, Predator 2, Alien, Aliens and Alien3 all followed that format. You never got to fully see the creatures until the third act of the movie. So there was build up. In AVP:R you see Wolf and the Predalien almost immediately. There's no suspense.

Lastly: people are quick to disgard humans from these films but imo the human characters make the movies. Not just the creatures. I like Predator because of ah'nold.. and Billy, and Apollo Creed (lol). Not just because of the first Pred. Same with Predator 2. Smae with the Alien films up to Alien3. The biggest thing I disliked about both AVP movies were the actors in them. I like Sanna Lathan, but I thought she was miscast in that movie. Lance was cool.. but beyond that the actors were pretty weak. And AVP:R was even worse. The only person I recognized was the Sheriff dude as Carlito's nephew who gets his throat slit in "Carlito's Way". And he isn't someone who I'd consider a good or even above average actor. Smae with the military chick.. she was way too stiff. The kid that played her daughter sucked too. She see's an Alien snuff her Dad and runs with her Mom to a graveyard AT NIGHT, and she's calm!? Riiiiight.

imo the AVP movies just need better writers and better actors. The first 2 storylines could've worked if the scripts were written better and if better actors were involved/casted.
