yup i agree. like i said before are u willing to pay 50k for a car with these type of marks and flaws? im just saying. they are both in different category, but the fact u shell out good money i expect good quality products

Of course you wouldn't want problems with an expensive new sports car. But like it or not, odds are it will also end up with dings and some scratches and wear and tear, no matter how immaculate you want to keep it.

And as expensive as this statue is, it's still just a high end figure, from a toy/figure/statue manufacturer. It's not Tiffany, or Ferrari. They aren't works of art that will be in the Louvre anytime soon. It's a small company that makes movie figures and toys for movie nerds. And all this stuff is expensive, whether it's a PF, bust or otherwise. Since the process is most likely the same whether they are working on a PF, or working on a $2000 statue, then it might be best to avoid the $2 grand statues, if you know the shipping concerns, defects and subtle manufacturing flaws MAY be there, just as they will be for a $300 PF.

Unless it's something drastic, I enjoy every piece I have and don't pull out the magnifying glass. But I also know what products to buy and what to avoid and keep the price points in mind.

Third time is indeed a charm. Here's the pics of my 2nd replacement and it's, well, in one piece.

The maquette came in separate boxes. On the inside, four(two medium and two small in size) foam padding were added for extra protection. I'm glad that this one came perfect. As we can see, SS did improve the packaging and I hope in the future, this kind of crap doesn't happen again(at least to me!). Thanks guys. I can finally enjoy this amazing piece. :)

Big thanks to Aimee at Sideshow. She's been very supportive and helpful. Thank you, Aimee. :rock2

Congrats. 3rd times a charm indeed :) So the packaging has been improved. At least that is a start. I'm still scared to order one until I see more show up in one piece. What ended up being the total weight for everything shipped? All you would have to do is weigh the box without the statue and we can figure out the weight of your IM.

Thanks a lot, guys. :)

The paint looks "good" from a distance AND up close like any other SS product, these were painted by "paint by the book" factory works, not artists. That's said, for a 2k piece, the paint job should be more than good.

If I had to grip about something, that will the potential casting damage and the paint job can be easily improved.

Do I feel like I got my money worth after all this? The answer is obvious, no.

The bottom line is, if you are a fan of the works of the studio, movie and the design. The is the best maquette you can get. This thing was never designed to be a mass produced product. SS got the balls to produce it and honestly, didn't do a good/solid job. However, as a fan, I sure glad to have this baby next to me. And I said this many times, let's hope this whole quality issue won't happen again.

Give it about 12 months and SS will be selling these for $500-$600 less just to get them out the door. Or maybe even try the usual bait and switch method by coming out with multiple variations of the suit and calling it an EX. I may wait for that to happen....at least then they might be numbered.

well, overall the paint app certainly looks better than the 1:1 bust.

been hearing a lot of disturbing physical flaws with this piece though. my local retailer had a piece arriving with the arm cracked. he took a loss on shipping, cos we're in malaysia (aka the other side of the planet).

That's not good, when did your retailer got his? It better the 1st batch.

how many did he order in total do you know? maybe quite a few made it unscathed?

Id pay 400$ for it max.
