Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Yes, you got to see Legolas, the trolls, riddles in the dark, etc. 12 minutes of just jaw dropping goodness.

Sorry for not being real descriptive. I haven't had sleep in 48 hours. :lol

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Yeah, it was worth not having gone to bed since Thursday night.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Man, I can't wait to hear your descriptions Josh!

Wonder if PJ will release the footage. The next vlog should be right around the corner. . .

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Thanks. I'll try to do that tomorrow after I've had some sleep. The footage may leak out but it sounds like we in the hall will be the only ones seeing it.

TheOneRing.net scored a few exclusive moments with Peter Jackson in the Comic-Con press line to chat. We asked him about his additional filming plans for The Hobbit.
Jackson says that he greatly desires to go back and film more in Middle-earth. This extra footage may or may not be destined for extended editions — extended editions are something that we definitely expect to see. However, the exciting possibility is that a third Hobbit film is also on Jackson’s mind — and he admitted it!
He wouldn’t outright commit to anything. He didn’t say: “Yes, I’m doing a third film”. On the other hand, he didn’t close the door completely.
His words: “There’s much more material from the Appendices of Lord of the Rings that we didn’t fit in.”
Remember though, we reported the other day that Warner Bros has no plans for a third film. Studio sources told Variety that “the plan was always for two.” What will happen? Well, it may all hinge on what sort of success An Unexpected Journey has this December.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Don't count on it. All he's saying is he loves Middle-Earth. After the second film comes out and it ends where The Hobbit ends this would have to be its own film. Now, I would guarantee we get EE of each filmz

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Yeah, exactly.

I thought they were adding things that weren't originally in the Hobbit to connect to LOTR anyway, like the inclusion of Frodo and an older narrating Bilbo.

To me, two Hobbit films felt like too much but a possible third? I like this world as much as the next fan but that's a little bit excessive for three hour films. The Hobbit isn't even as large or vast as LOTR anyway.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

That's what I was thinking as well DiFabio.

The Hobbit (book) is close in length to FOTR I'd say. If they can split it into 3 movies, why isn't LOTRs' a 9 Movie saga? :lol

Yeah i got the impression he wanted to film as much material as possible to maybe put into a future dvd/blu-ray version of The Hobbit, and who knows - LOTR too? Maybe he's filming Tom Bombadil and The Scouring of the Shire ;)

But who knows, maybe we'll get to see Aragorns adventures in Gondor and Rohan when he was in disgiuse ;) Like a James Bond in Middle-Earth :lol

Also, i got the impression from TheOneRing.net that the 'trolls' weren't the 3 trolls we know about, but they were actually the stone giants from the book who throw boulders in the Misty Mountains? If so can you give descriptions?

And Tauriel and Legolas fighting goblins... was that in Mirkwood? Goblins don't go into Mirkwood in the book....?

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

There was a scene of something tossing stones but I don't think it's the trolls from fotr. The three trolls will be the stone trolls as far as I know.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Can you describe any of it?

Any Legolas  :lol

Sounds a little gay...

:exactly:

IMO, two films is plenty.

Man, I hope not. Scouring of the Shire is great in the book, but would be completely revisionist in terms of the way the ROTK movie ended.

Tom Bombadil feels out of place in the book, and would stick out like a damn sore thumb in the films.

There is so much awesomeness in Tolkien's work that needs to see screen time. If Jackson loves that world so much, he should make a "Children of Hurin" film, or even better a "Beren and Luthien" film.

In the book, it's "giants" that are throwing stones. That's one of the bits that always jabs you as a reminder that the Hobbit is a children's book. Was kind of hoping they wouldn't be included in the film.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Three Hobbit films? I'd be into it :D As long as they're done by PJ, the more the merrier :yess:

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Well, the clip they showed of the giant tossing a stone was sweet. This film is going to own 2012.

How was the camera work? I remember hearing a whole bunch of whining before about the FPS footage and what not. Any thoughts?
